Fridge Baskets
« on: February 14, 2019, 11:13:50 AM »
Does anyone know where to get those plastic coated wire baskets for fridges from? Looking at getting a small one (ideally half width, and half depth) that fits into the current basket of the fridge side of an Evakool 60 litre RF. Looked at ones in Bunnings and couldn't find anything really suitable.

Engel sell them as an extra, they hook onto the larger baskets in the fridge, not sure it they would fit though

Just some food for thought

I used some on our first 3 month trip and ditched them for the second. Due to the restricted space you are constantly shuffling stuff around in the fridge (take a beer out put a new one in and the like) i found the baskets just got in the way of this process

Did look at the Engel/Waeco stuff, but I'm unsure about fit.

Reason for the smaller baskets is just back from a trip and found that some fruit and veg (namely tomatoes and cucumbers) work their way down the bottom of the fridge during travel and semi-freeze, and when defrosted they're mushy n unusable

Have you tried contacting Evakool themselves  - Evo said they were always great to deal with.. they might know a place that has them to suit.

You could take your basket into store and check

have a look at bunnings.

I got a similar basket to fit in centre console of my prado to stop loosing things. There might be a suitable size there.
Or even  this might work. Cable tie to top of your basket.

I have an Evakool 47l fibreglass model and made a basket out of 1" square mesh wire. Finished the top with white pinchweld. Works a treat. Under $10. Will post a pic next week when home.

Did contact EvaKool and they don't have any basket inserts.

That soap & bottle basket looks the go, checked the Bunnings website and the local one doesn't have them in stock so may have to get one in!

Thanks guys.

When I bought my Waeco at BCF they had some Evercool fridges instock with additional shallow baskets in them.Tried all the Engel and evercool baskets in the store to get the best fit in the Waeco CFX 65, with one of the Evercool baskets fitting the perfectly. The guy at bcf then ordered the exact basket from Evercool for me which works great.
They must have stopped making them which is sad.
