Using Your Photo's from Google Photo's
« on: October 19, 2018, 03:56:40 PM »
I know there have been a few posts touching on this in the now post-Photobucket era but have come across this easy way of being able to post your Google photo's, just watch the short vid for an explanation. https://www.labnol.org/internet/embed-google-photos-in-website/29194/

Yep, basically its go to the picture in Google Photos>click on share>get link>paste that link here https://ctrlq.org/google/photos/ > Paste the generated direct link in Myswag with the image tags (from the Mona Lisa above the smileys) and this is the result.

I guess their advertising revenue would have dropped, but so would their server cost's and their income would have increased somewhat, I guess how much that increase would be how happy they were the decision.

Do people have photos in Google ?? After getting the run around with windows one drive, I just store my photos on the laptop. Back them up and post from there if I need to upload any !

Android automatically backs them up there (I only use a camera phone), it's free and unlimited and to date hassle free, I used to use Onedrive and it was a bit of a PITA, the only downfall of Google photos I have found is you can't easily use them as hosting for forums etc.......unless you follow the steps above.

Hi
Well that seems to be ok.

The code seems excessively long though
Code: [Select]
[img width=360 height=480]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/wO-Wy1XzVQAISCpfjDrTDw5ggtvPeWt3JVOaXnFNhl9FL9TNNkvlcNdqyv8b0ChaoJpcb0thjUHDJs8Kr6RT6va4gvE9ZJss6bspPObytVAY8OWwchnWSBrWuELNSxszXhEKl3EWRvc=w2400[/img]

I have this image on imgur.com

and its code is much shorter
Code: [Select]
[img width=320 height=480]https://i.imgur.com/rbpC4M1.jpg[/img]

I need to do some more reading on this I think.

edit:
I used to do as Sharkcaver posted, but something changed in Google and it would no longer work, so I gave it a try and bingo

The code is heaps long though
Code: [Select]
[img]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/LBWYrDZdfg8TKh5Z46cdFvsgpL9SSD7KNUMtU_u4fPoPk0yJuFBbgPqO_MPB1MJRKXigRxlyJvd0UyrUQSC90InMePh8HMbBXDOtqv_nPBb8ltvGlJ-ZcComzDAMb7NEZSrJ43QxDluJ_wHSX9a5hpsxHNoXXkVZu5Jkimq8QFRbDlPxOsy3t1rPjR6SnXHRZqPCHUB7p-HvhvWZYBX6F5F_LbDVyqerIW7SsSP_86Un0lrRUMO2WA0LcwyLaZKGc9yPkbRXi4rHVbYzgN2ZsngyC3odlmaujDdVTgW9NoNGhE1BWFfsQEPuCKQzNhAoJ4MYm1C8CmYBT6LMHUJ4tEMUwtzV84Dsa7ZNBCpuckMCrh_-i0Oq7hLjAl2cbhKOOXVwLVTycpiWP5a2EMiqXsyRzO_3P8_l12KLHc14IMNqivrEhIGquEFeTmlfFe_hAOQW83ZdGQEBFpRhGdY1CqvUb5rxmtBJMt23iz_sdvjW-1ZAUf8M107gymNG47m4a_iIdZeTXt14tKV6uVaQirN-Ou6Q-5BNTCo5XOoTMcEdspZrvhhD0IFbynZejpYtG9nz8LsAm9MNX_Jjjx-q8puyuqHo-6gJwibzqNrH75iv2EBC64oKhX5ZB0NM41Z6=w1095-h821-no[/img]

But I guess it all works. The only thing I can think may be a problem with the long code would be if a post got too long and it hit the character limit, which has happened to me on occasions.

Edit:
Just checked the post on Android, it all works but the photo of the wallaby. It is just a blank space. But if I click on it, it opens to a full page image. Some what frustrating these inconsistencies between platforms.

cheers

Seems to be working for me from Android (hadn't tried yet)
You can quote this message to check the code but appears to be working without the file reference.

Take 3: obviously this forum doesn't like being edited with a google pic embedded. All I do is open the photo in google photos. Right click it and click "copy link location". Then on the forum, click the insert image icon. Paste the copied link using (control + v) between the [img] tags. Works on this and a few other forums, but not others that don't seem to have embed functions active. I have another work around for that. Now if only I could get youtube vids to embed here.....Thanks for the heads up on the embed link creator. That may well come in handy one day. Cheers.

Hi Sharkcaver
Something has changed with youtube, I have posted videos before in a similar manner, and it came out as a clickable frame on the page. may have been the AuLRO forum though.

Edit:  It still does it on Android, but cant see it on the pc. Just another platform dependent idiocracy.

Hi,
Thanks, the variability of images working or not is frustrating. I think the problem is the Bullitin Board Code software not handling the long image address generated by Google.
I have even had images not show on the same device I created and viewed them on previously.
Cheers
