Almost No State Forrest Left In Victoria
« on: September 03, 2018, 01:28:33 AM »
All you campers, prospectors, hunters, horse riders and 4wd's take note of what VEAC and the greenies are trying to do, and will do if they win the next election. This is a cut and paste from the F/B BUGU page

Rita BentleyAdmin · 7 hrsI've been doing more investigation into VEAC's report and although the news is bad for prospectors it is even worse for recreational hunting.  It is proposed that hunting be prohibited in all categories except State Forest. Since there is only 10,180 hectares of the current 89,278 hectares still to be State Forest you guys should be as angry as I still am.
Those activities that stick to formed roads and vehicle tracks are, for the moment, no more restricted. But if you want to camp you will need to stick to designated campgrounds.
Horse riding  on formed roads and tracks but no camping, grazing or feeding - forget National parks, Conservation Parks, maybe Regional Parks and Nature Reserves.
Dog walkers are generally excluded from NP's, Conservation Parks and Nature Reserves.
There isn't much in the way of positive news for firewood collectors either, Banned in all areas of the Wellsford, the only area it will be permitted around Daylesford is in the Wombat Regional Park. The Pyrenees/Mt Cole areas - in the Pyrenees Regional Park and the remaining, very precious to us, State Forest. VEAC are talking about a new licence system for firewood collection as well.
The general public needs this news as many are totally unaware and will remain that way until they ask 'what the hell happened?'
Can we all please spread the word about the BUGU FB page and VEAC's intentions? We will try to prepare a fact sheet over coming days and post that. The BUGU map is still current so please share that and if you need printed copies please personal message me or any other admin. We will need a donation to cover post etc but $5 should cover it with a bit left over for other uses during the campaign. Why not include an order for car stickers @ $2 each?

Bloody disgrace this is how some people demand the bush be managed this way.  Will result in more dangerous fires totally destroying the area for less people to use and enjoy.

Agree Al, but your missing the bit in Victoria where they want to confiscate/buyback (without paying) and demand you the owner re-fence at your expense.
More than the recognized boundary of the watercourses is earmarked for this, on both sides of the waterways.
And they plan to re-vegitate this natural corridor for the Native creatures, using Native Plants.
Thus introducing a far more dangerous Fire corridor through populated areas.
Example. "The Yellingbo Conservation Area Project Proposal.
I was of the Understanding that Melbourne Water (Board of Works Melbourne before Privatization) controlled the Yarra River, Not Parks.

This is what it is like in NSW. the Shooters Party got shafted by the government at the time with regards to shooting, cannot camp anywhere in a state forest unless it is in a campground and the campgrounds are left in a mess by ferrals
Need to get the backside into gear and get out camping

People on here need to put in submissions to counter this false and misguided singleminded use of VEAC recommendations.

I am sure it was on the radio this morning that some group was to ban 4x4 from Queensland beaches.
Did not hear the full story.

When did this happen?
NSW forestries where still open for camping anywhere when I was living there a couple of years ago and I can’t find any info saying those rules have changed lately.

Queensland on the other hand....
No camping on forestry land around here and they just locked the gates on a bunch of 4wding tracks in the Glasshouse area.

Why are you so interested in NSW Bruce, get your 4wd club into gear and jump up and down about these proposed closures or is your club 1 of the affiliated ones getting hand outs from Parks Vic ? and access to closed fire fighting tracks.

Have a look at info about "Great Forrest National Park " and not just from their site either.

What makes you think we are doing nothing?

Getting handouts from Parks?? Since when? **** was secretary for 3 years, president for 2 yrs, must have missed that one... I know we do lots of free work for parks and Rudi we get donuts for...

Concerned with others states as what happens in one state usually happens in another cause some pencil pushing fuktard thinks he needs to be seen to be doing something..
