Fraser Island Vehicle and Camping Permits
« on: March 29, 2010, 12:51:55 PM »
Thanks to JK who has just prompted me to remind you all about getting your vehicle and camping permits (if required).  I know some of you will already have this under control but for those of you who are not sure here is some information.

Vehicle and Camping permits can be obtained through the DERM website - http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/fraser/index.html  (see top right hand side of page).  If booking through the website I believe you will need to obtain a pack from a QPWS office which contains miscellaneous info and a vehicle permit sticker to go on your car.

Vehicle and Camping permits can also be obtained by phoning 1300 130 372.  If you book with enough notice they will post out your pack to you.  This would be my choice!

Vehicle Permit can be obtained from the barge company on arrival to travel over to Fraser.

If any of you seasoned travellers have any tips for booking please let us know.

Thanks
Karen

If you haven't got your vehicle or camping permits yet, fill this form in, scan it and email back to Manta Ray Barge Permit Office [mantaraybargeqld@bigpond.com]. If you are not coming from Inskip Point, DO NOT circle the top right hand corner to say "yes" to a barge permit. Manta Ray Barges only operate from Inskip Point to Hook Point.

I book my permits last week but only call for them to send out the pack today. The lady on the phone was one of the most helpful person I have talked to in along while.
Cheers
