Went for a drive today
« on: April 11, 2018, 08:35:40 PM »
Hi all, My whole mob jumped in the old 80 and headed out to Booloumba Ck day area and did the Strangler Cairn and gold mine walk about 7ks around trip, The people that know do not have to comment, but what do you think NPs paid the artist they commissioned to have the SC built.  It was lovely walk, Craig

No one guessing well I will say it cost around $700,000 dollars to build that egg rock, I am not saying it will not pay for its self over the years, but, Craig

Whoever authorised payment should be asked to explain his decision to spend that amount of taxpayers funds on something which offers no conservation value at all. ??? ??? WTF.

It might be like one of those Faberge egg things. They are apparently fairly expensive too.

Yes I know it does look like a big bird left it behind, It has been built so the small fig tree growing on the top will eventually sends its roots down the sides and create a master piece of art, that people will drive from all over the country to see like a blue polls of the bush, Craig

Holy Shit, is this real,
1: strangler figs grow wild in the tropics;
2. Andy has realised his ambitions and talents by ripping off $700k (if that's the right figure) to plant a      effing tree on a rock;
3. Where's the tordon.

I was up there a few months ago too Craig, and when I read it cost $700k i nearly fainted !!!!

it is pretty speccy but like AllanK said within 5 years the fig will break through the hessian inside the rock and it will either break out or it will be like Day of the Trifford sand just walk away. Beautiful spot tho, did the walk to the fire tower one day- fine and sunny but got to the tower and it was like pea soup.......

Id def go back in the off season
