Birdsville trailer parking

I am sure one can, but still have to asked.
Where do one park, safely, a trailer at Birdsville if you want to cross the desert without it.

You can leave it at the Caravan Park but nowdays they charge the full daily rate for it   Used to be only a peppercorn rent but the council has got greedy.
Don't think there's any other option..
