Simpson Desert Trip
« on: March 04, 2018, 09:05:32 PM »
Hi Swagger's
Just wanted to pass on our thanks :cup: for all those that have posted their experiences in previous posts.
they have been an invaluable source of reference for our trip in mid April,
We had a pre trip camp get together at Hat Head last weekend to catch up and checkout what gear to share and how each of us is set up,and what sort of cooking set ups etc.
We are going via Moree for a spa to Wanaring, Camerons corner, Innaminka side trip to Coongie Lakes,The Dig tree,Cordilo Downs ,Birdsville, Maree, Lake Eyre,William Ck,Dalhousie Springs Mt Dare, across the desert via the lone gum and Poeppel Corner, Big Red , Birdsville, Haddens Corner, all totally subject to change and modifications we have 4 weeks to get as much in as possible but will cut back to keep it real and have time to breath along the way,
hopefully spending about 5 days in the desert.
4 vehicles TD 90 series Prado, 2007 Hilux D4D dual cab, 2016 Triton dual cab,2000 TD Hilux Dual cab, 8 adults 1 child 9yrs,
Cheers Grizzly

Not trying to hijack your thread or anything, and by that I mean I'm absolutely trying to hijack your thread, but where do you camp at hat head? There's a bunch of spots in the area that I'd like to check out some time.

No worries Hookie
We stayed at the Hat Head caravan park, got unpowered site on thd creek side, and really liked the size of sites and the feel of the place it wont be our last visit
We we're going for South West Rocks but expensive and couldn't get 4 sites close together.

We head out from Moree on the 18th of April , 1from Tamworth, 1 From Dungong 2 from Wollongbar It was suggested as a great way to start the trip, with a soak in the hot spring, and there is a very good chance the trip wil end there as well.😀
Our itinerary is what we would like to see but it is not a must do,the most important priority is to have fun without stressing ourselves or vehicles.
