Ford everest trailer stability feature

Hi All was talking to ford sales guy about the Everest today and he told me that the anti sway feature actually applied the brakes on the trailer itself can anyone here confirm that for me please as my knowledge about this feature is that it applys the brakes of the tow vechile not the trailer.

Pretty sure he is full of it. Fords don’t come with trailer brake control modules so the car would have to activate them by another means than an aftermarket one.
Sway control robs engine power immediately and brakes either side of the car to stop any trailer sway building up. I’ve had it cut in on mine once when I was ‘testing’ the trailer with some not normal steering inputs. An excellent feature to have.

Hi the everest has trailer sway control but i dont think it works in the manner that the salesman explained as he said it brakes the trailers brakes of which i dont tjink it does just the 4wd brakes is my understanding.

yeah NAH. just applies brakes to the everest. nothing to do with the trailer.

As i thought just like all the other brands. It was just that he was so dead set convinced that it worked on the trailer i thought I'd ask on here as the only way i could see that working is the trailer/caravan would have to have some sort of sensor on it's brakes for the car's computer to work from if I'm correct

I’ve no doubt the brake lights come on so the trailer brakes would be activated as per normal but the car couldn’t have any more effect than that.

On my 2016 PX2 Ford Ranger, I purchased the Ford Trailer stability module myself, and mounted the module under the passenger seat, where it really was just plug it in and screw it down with the supplied screws -- Later the module was switched on by my Ford dealer, with my Ranger's first service.

How I ended up doing this myself, was I wanted a high clearance tow bar as I was getting a Dual Cab Chassis and mounting service body canopy setup, and I didn't want the stupid low clearance stealing factory Tow Bar, I ended up buying a high clearance tow bar and mounting it myself as a part of making the service body, then purchasing the wiring kit and trailer sway control components separately.

If you have purchased a complete factory setup, it may of been all included, but you will need to check with your Ford dealer.

So it can apply the vehicle brakes, on a highway, and no brake lights come on? I'm happy to be wrong but I am sceptical. DHC etc all turn on the lights and it all runs off the same system.

Ok..... All sorted i went back to see the salesman and guess what i was right (for once) the system works like all the brands (as i thought) it applys the vechiles brakes not the trailer's brakes as he thought...
