These are a knock off of the frontier stove, a british design originally for survival or disaster scenarios.  They can also fit into tents with the appropriate options.

They were never sold into Australia, as far as I know.  I have always been interested in them but the price plus transport was just to much.

They should be better than the "ozpig" design for cooking

They look rather small but might be a cheaper option than buying an Ozpig

My take on this is that these have flat top, so more chance of transmitting heat to your pan, kettle etc.  Only a guess I'm afraid but that plus the light weight and small pack down size are what me so keen.  I hope I'm not disappointed.

I think that the water heater would be a great addition https://belltentboutique.co.uk/products/frontier-stove-water-heater

Their website says all in 10.5 kgs weight.

Seems to be a lot of metal bits goes into the thing to only weigh that little...

Maybe that's why the price is ok?

My fold up fire pit that was done by a  myswagger was a toe breaker by comparison, (remember to pack the steel caps)....      ... and it was basically just two folding pieces of sheet metal....

It'll be interesting to see what the field report says in terms of robustness and quality...

I know that this stove is an indulgence BUT

it weights the same as a gas bottle & a 2 burner stove
it allows me to cook and heat myself when camp fires are not allowed3
I can use the same cooking equipment I use on the gas
the fuel is free and readily available (small sticks)

If you think this is a self justification you're right, but it's true

Here is my take on camping cooking

i have cooked for my family for 30 years and a while professionally.  i really enjoy it, it is not something I hand to my wife as "womens work".  Therefore I am willing to indulge myself knowing that we will all enjoy the fruits of my labours (and the equipment I buy).  I guess that if it was my wife who cooked I probably say the same??

Camping is great, it's better with good food!!!
