Hehe launching a boat, that’s on a boat trailer, without a tug
« on: November 02, 2017, 04:36:28 PM »
Just had to post here was well....

Don’t know how far they travelled but just watched these two young fellas push this setup across the carpark. Looks like they had done it before.....and they managed to keep it under control

Young fella struggled to pull the trailer back up

Maybe mum and dad will be home later to retrieve the boat.

We did that so many times as kids.

My mate used to tie his 10 foot punt with 4hp to his BMX and ride to the boat ramp. He was about 13 or 14, the coppers pulled him up once, they loved his ingenuity but fined him for no helmet....

I'll have to see if I can dig up some photos of how we do beach launch and retrieval up north at low tide. It usually involves pushing boat and trailer across 100m or so of dry sand bar and using the anchor rope as a winch extension for retrieval.

Same, as a young fella I had a 10ft punt and a mate and I would get mum to drop us at the boat ramp, she would do her shopping or what ever and come back a few hours later to collect us.

Great times back then.

Looks like Cabbage Tree Creek?

I work with a guy who use to live a couple of streets from that ramp and if he wasn’t home to drive, his teenage son and his mates use to push the tinny to the ramp so they could have  fish.

Chain the trailer to a post and once finished push it home again.

But I have seen grown men who can't reverse unhook trailers and push them down which is always a good laugh.

Being a recent arrival to Brissy, I assume it is the park at Shorncliffe, never knew it was Cabbage Tree creek, which I see passes through the suburbs out Bridgeman Downs way.
Shorncliffe is a fav of ours for slipping out for fish n chips eating in that park and depending on tide the dog gets a swim.
