Portable toilet recomendations

I'm sure this has been asked many times before but can anyone advise which brand/no brand and type of toilet would suit a couple we have a seat and bag type but more and more places require self contained type to be used
what's your thoughts People

Size is one of the big considerations, smaller ones require emptying far more often, whereas larger ones can be quite heavy to lift when full, so how long at a time between emptying opportunities and how able you are to lift and carry 20kgs+ comes into consideration.

I have a composting toilet that I had in my boat, when we used to travel over to the islands and live aboard our boats for several days.

I now take it with us on camping trips when there are no amenities.

They are clean, efficient and you can use them for several weeks before they need to be emptied.

x2 on above...as a family of 4 (myself and 3 females) our bigger sized unit lasts 3 - 4 days before I need to empty it, but when full it has quiet some weight to it. I'm happy to wrangle the extra weight over extra emptying. Thetford are a decent brand, but I'm sure there's others. My sister inlaw bought an Aldi one, it was returned after one Xmas break holiday due to not working properly (think it had flushing problems, didn't pump the water properly).

Go to www.Shitters-r-us.com.au and they'll get you to email them the size of your arse, the expected size of your turds: IE. small to medium, large, XX large or rip ya arse open XXXXXXXX large and they will build you custom turd haven to suit your special needs.

They also have a special on grunt rails this month and if ya get the premium package, they Teflon Coat the front portion of the slippery dip bit of the portable turd unit, so skid marks and abuse from your wife, girlfriend, boy friend, transgender partner, ladyboy or whatever the hell you sleep with, is a thing of the past.

Medium - like a thetford 145 - would do the business for 2 people for a week. That is the size we have. As stated, they get bloody heavy.

IT's really a design thing about how the bottom tanks empty..

Note the extension tube on the more expensive unit on where the tank gets emptied, this really makes a difference when emptying the tank, as with the cheaper unit no extension tube means splash back and that is horrible  .

I have the cheaper one, don't think it makes too much difference when emptying in a drop point, but EXTREME care is needed if emptying into a toilet. The bigger, more straight forwards opening I imagine would make it easier to get any "sludge" out of the bottom and clean out though.

I have both portable loo shown in the pic.
Hands down the bottom 1 with the direction outlet.
Less splash back, better "aim" an a more controlled empty.

We have the therford 345. Adult bum seat size, (yes there is a small kid size to) 12L storage tank.
I found it the most practical size for storage an mention already weight. 
I do like the larger 365 but they are actually rather large for a portable loo plus the extra weight.

Another thing to concider is the flush style. 1. The older style bellow pump  are VERY noise on a very quite night,  they also dont have the pressure of the newer styles,  the piston pump.

yer cheers guys as far as budget goes rather buy quality once than cheap half a dozen times and would never buy anything from Aldi 
there is plenty of room in the camper to store it and we have a Joolca ensuite tent 20kgs of weight isn't going to worry me although I can see us filling one up on our trips

Thetford 165 and 365 would likely be a good match then, maybe even their Porta Potty excellence although I don't know much about these.

Another tip.
Don't completely fill the top (clean water ) tank. I just put in a few Litres when needed. Saves a heap of weight when moving it around.
Also just leave it as water dont put additives in.(just the top tank) People have had issue with mould when using smelly/additives stuff an then not washed out correctly when stored.

We have had couple of the cheaper no name chemical loo's and they worked fine but both ended up leaking yellow water if you know what I mean

We now use a Thetford and it hasnt leaked. We are on our second one...I ran over our first one. As for emptying either I am not a huge fan but couple of things that we have learnt over the years.....

1, Use proper chemicals. We tried the napisan idea and for us it didnt cut it. Proper chemicals or pods smell like roses.
2, Empty it at a designated dump point. They are set up for it and a lot nicer doing it outdoors using a hose rather than at home in the loo.
3, It has already been mentioned but only put enough water in the top flushing tank to get you by until your ready to empty the bottom, it makes it a lot easier to lift.
4, The most important one, dont forget to empty it after a trip. Ours lives behind our stoneguard on the camper and yes I did forget to empty once, and it was back when we were trialling napisan

Oh and one more......watch out for splash back when emptying

Yeah just a little point as I could hear women giving heaps of orders in that video and we are talking about equality here, has anybody seen woman empty a tank of a portable toilet 

   I have been in heaps of caravan parks etc ..  seen plenty blokes emptying the cassettes, but never a woman -- I mean I could of blinked

And I seem to always win the task of emptying our porta loo..... just the way it goes I guess.....I haven't met too many other females at the dump points though....
