Lead crystal battery
« on: October 03, 2017, 05:16:56 PM »
Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone has installed a lead crystal battery in their car or camper. They sound great.

Time for a new auxiliary battery in the Patrol and looking at putting it in the boot and making a custom drawer and fridge slide set up. Most like be installing a dcdc charger as wanting to put a solar panel on the roof. Any experiences or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Not all chargers can charge them. The Redarc charger definitely can

Cheers. Redarc is definitely on the list but I was thinking of an enerdrive dc2dc as you Can dial in voltages and amps for a more specific charge.

Lead crystal don't offer much in weight saving.

Thats ok for me. I'm not in a position to afford a lithium battery. So it's either agm or lead crystal which weigh roughly the same. My current battery is in the engine bay and is around the 25kg mark so an extra few kg won't hurt.
