Thanks oh wonderful banks

For removing those ATM fees today...cynical me does wonder if the only reason you have done it, is because everyone pretty  much pays for stuff by card now (tap and go etc) and very few people are withdrawing cash from ATM's these days, so it's been done just for you lot to look good as if you are doing something for us. Personally I can't even recall the last time I got cash out of an ATM, so it does me no favours at all.

Still need cash when you buy an item off me from Gumtree. If it is sold on Gumtree the cash goes straight into my kit. I Would consider EFT if it was a big ticket item like car or camper.

i didn't say the world is now cashless, just that there must be so many less cash transactions happening these days due to most day to day transactions being done by cards now. I used to regularly (probably several times a week atleast) withdraw cash from an ATM, no idea when the last time I did that was now...i rarely have cash in my wallet now, and if i do it's money someone else has given me when I paid for something by card for them. The point being, i doubt the banks are making much money out of those fees these days, so dumped them just to look like they are doing us a favour

CBA started it, my guess is as a PR exercise to try and improve their public image after their money laundering scandal which has followed in the back of several other issues. Then the other majors followed suit. I think there will definitely be some advertising on the screen for people to digest as well.

ING have given you back all ATM fees for years.. .Dunno why anyone is with a normal shopfront "Bank" anymore

on what rp said, lets be honest, they have removed the ATM fees - they will up something else to make up for it... they have shareholders who wont accept going backwards.. 10billion in profits coming right up.

I'm just glad I don't have any money. I don't have to worry about giving it to those bank scum. There is an up side to being poor.

Have been with CBA for almost 20 years for home loan, house and car insurance.

Have yet to find a better deal elsewhere and have our own personal bank manager that has helped us heaps.

I only ever withdraw $200 stating so $2 over $200 never bother me, I also never complained about the fee, user pay as the machine costs money to manufacture, in stall and they have to pay somebody to fill the machine.

When we withdraw cash it normally lay for a long time as we try and use credit card for everything which gets paid of in full every month.

Banks are an essential service there make a good return on there business.....after all they are a business just like any other business, out to make money. Nobody holds a gun to your head making yo use a particular bank
