First time buyer seeking advice.
« on: September 15, 2017, 08:06:26 PM »
Hey everyone. Hope you are all well. First time poster and soon to be first time CT owner. I have been looking at HEAPS of trailers over the past months and there are so many out there. We are long time campers with a toddler and newish born looking to enter the camper world. Not knowing how it will go we don't want to over capitalise so have decided either Mars or similar new Chinese option (not worth it in the long run) or a decent second hand option. I have found two good second hand options. Or so I think. Would love some valuable input on these two options over a new Chinese made option. Thabks in advance swaggers.

Could you expand on what yo want from the CT experience . Long term isolated country/outback trip or weekends away in a van park  ??? . Where are you located   ???
What was your 1st car  ??? are you still driving it , ? or have you moved on to something better suited to your needs evolving .
CTs are something you & only you can best decide on what is going to be the best at this time for you . Try to look at Preloved market as there is more Bang for your $ , the mods have been done for you .Then as you see other Cts you could want to change to an upgrade .
                        Enjoy the journey

We are are looking for bush and beach holidays. Mild 4wd action but not planning on any heavy duty stuff or sandy just yet. To win with a bt50. My side business is towing an old Bondwood caravan so weight won't be an issue. Located near Byron Bay and planning in doing lots of the East coast and into the hinterland and beyond.

What budget do you have and don't discount the prospects of finding and excellent pre-owned CT

Welcome to the forum

I would be looking at the second hand market for a well known brand. For the budget you will be able to get something that someone has mofified a bit and have some good Aussie canvas.

Have a look in the classifieds section, a location would help as well so we can narrow down the search area

Thanks for the reply GGV8Cruza I think the second hand option is up there at the moment. I am based in byron bay but often travel to Brisbane. It seems lifestyle is the way to go, does anyone have any experience with emu campers?

Hire a camper first. It will help you decide what you want in a camper before outlaying your money to buy one.
