We've always found the front desk staff at our local office to be pretty good, but their back-of-house systems
My Mrs recently lost both her parents in very quick succession
Their car came to her, so BiL took half a rainforest of paper into the Office to advise of their deaths, cancel their licenses & rego, & t'fer the car to my Mrs.
Took an hour or so of button pushing to sort it all out (which, strictly speaking, they shouldn't have done, because they're can't transfer a vehicle out of a deceased estate till 30 days after the death & he was in there on day 29
), & they even waived some of the costs as it was too hard for their system to work out how much it was supposed to cost!, so all good.
A bit over a week later though, we got 2 identical letters from Qld Transport, one addressed to each of Mum & Dad.
Took a full page to basically say "We've been told that the person that this letter is addressed to (ie YOU!!!) is deceased. If this is the case, please advise us within 28 days of what is happening with your vehicle, rego xxxxxx"
The next day, we then got another letter from them, confirming t'fer of rego to my Mrs
So, even though we took copies of everything, including death certificates, in, & the counter staff fixed everything up for us, their systems still sent out letters asking if you're really dead
, & if so, what are you doing about your car
, despite the fact that the t'fer was already going through
