Toyota's wouldn't have known where to go unless they followed the wheel tracks already there from the Land Rovers.

As for the Hydro expansion.
For something that was considered far too expensive in the past, it's now the only answer.
And guess who's claiming all the credit.
They wouldn't have known it was possible, unless someone told them.

Yeah, FJ40's imported by Theiss for the project.
They were so good Theiss decided to set up a Toyota dealership to sell them to the public. And so Toyota Australia was born..... the story is something like that anyway.

We think nothing of it, but the hate for the 'Japs' and anything they made would have been rife back then, as most still remembered the war.

 I still remember my grandfather making a big thing of me buying my first Toyota (an FJ40)... and that was in the 90's.

Well it would have to have full ANCAP rating, full underside protection incase they drive over a star picket. Rops Fops run on water incase of a fire. Flotation device incase it falls into water and full armour incase a piece of space junk falls out of the sky.

Then it might be safe enough for an Australian buisness to drive it as long as there is a SOP risk assessment that sees the future for all hazards.

Will it go ahead though? It looks to me like they only dusted off the 20 year old plans and committed to do a feasibility study because they were guilt-ed into it by SA declaring they were doing something about power generation and storage.

It all sounds like policy on the run to me.

Actually I realize now my first comment was wrong, all of the Mahindra's will be getting delivered to the Adarni site.

The contractors on the Snowies will be driving the new Foton utes.
Apparently for every cheap Chinese turbine that the government buys for the Snowies stage II the supplier will throw in a spare set of bearings and a Foton ute.....

I get rounded up by the Thales mechanics doing test runs on the Bushmasters out the back of the airport. They go much faster than they probably should. I'd like to see the 0-100 figures on one.

As for the snowy's, if its like any other civil site, the surveyors and the supervisors will drive wagons - prados/discos, and there will be hardly any other light vehicles on site. Contractor bosses drive 200 series/lexus 570. Site vehicles are whatever the boss drove 10 years ago. First ute to get bogged or roll and the unions/whs rep will make the head contractor build a freaking cable car system.
