Johnnos Hard Floor Product History
« on: February 09, 2017, 10:39:35 AM »
Hi all.

I'm hoping someone here is familiar with the product history of Johnno's Campers. I've spotted a hard floor I'm interested in but can't find any reference to this particular model after running numerous google searches.

Here are a few pics of the unit:

It is advertised as a 2012 model.

I'm hoping to find out if this really is an Aussie built camper and any other info like expected tare and ball weight. Also whether there are any known faults with this particular model and any other info.

This unit is quite a distance from me and interstate so I would have to re-register it. Don't really want to waste the seller's time (or mine) hence asking here first.

TIA, Steve.

Try running the Johnno's Campers url through archive.org, that may give you a date to jump back to in 2012 that has the details you need.

I might be wrong but it looks like an import to me, had a quick image search but couldn't see any rear fold Johnno's campers for that time, ask them for a picture of the placard.

looks like an import to me, I don't recall Johnos ever doing a simular camper?

There have been a few people that have come and gone over the last few years importing trailers and calling them simular names to genuine Aussie units this could be something simular?
Regards,

Wilson79

Try running the Johnno's Campers url through archive.org, that may give you a date to jump back to in 2012 that has the details you need.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it but the archives don't go back beyond 2013 for the URL and there weren't any hard floor models listed then.

I might be wrong but it looks like an import to me, had a quick image search but couldn't see any rear fold Johnno's campers for that time, ask them for a picture of the placard.

I think you may be correct. I thought it was a bit sus and that was one of the reasons I posted. I'll take your advice and request a photo of the placard.

I see it is on Gumtree.  Could not see the trade mark Johnno's rear mud flaps fitted? Still looks like a good camper.  Maybe ask on the Johnno's Facebook page.    Kevin

Have received a photo of the compliance plate and it is definitely not an original johnno's.

One thing my dad told me while I was young that has rung through while looking and used camper trailers is:

"if it's too good to be true, it usually is"

Good looking camppa

Try a 'Junris Camper'...
https://www.yellowpages.com.au/vic/dandenong-south/junris-trailers-14821219-listing.html

Looks like an eBay seller from the review's there and I would be going in with eyes wide open based on both the review's and the fact they are obviously being dishonest with their ad.

Manufactured by the Hoo Flung Dung Camper Trailer Company in the backstreets of Guangzhou. Anyone contemplating a purchase of one of these little gems should be certified before parting with their money.

That looks VERY MUCH like an imported generic Chinese hard floor CT. If so, there is an issue with the floor coming adrift from the rest of the camper on corrugated dirt roads.

I have direct knowledge of 2 of them doing it. One on the GRR & one on the Silver City Hwy north of BH.

Different brand on each, but almost identical CT's. Small cosmetic differences likes bolt on toolboxes etc.

difficult to tell from a single photo, but that swing arm design looks "interesting", and the shock bushes seem to be a tad worn ?

could just be my eyes, and I know bugger all about suspension though.

Thought as I was passing by I would drop in and have a look. A few box trailers inside but definitely no machinery to build trailers

Steve, you say it is a 2012 model yet the compliance plate says 2014, maybe throw the vin no into the
https://www.ppsr.gov.au   to gather prior ownership and 1 st rego date. Cost least than $10 from memory.

Have you been to Dandenong South?

There is a factory a few doors down on the other side of the road with trailers out the front similar to what was in this factory,  box trailer gal dipped with a crate on them. It had a sign something about scrap metal dealers but the two huge guys of eastern European appearance out the front giving me the evil eye was enough for me to finish my investigation and head for the hills.😣

Your right D4D if you dont have glass in your windows you dont have to clean them 😂

I won't be pursuing this one. I'm only interested in an Ozzie built camper and if the Campomatic in the classifieds wasn't so far away I would grab it.
