Doing a bit of a read on the soon to be released Windsor Silhouette XC.

Has anyone seen the prototype getting around at the 4X4 & Camping shows.

Look like it is well put together and I like the outdoor kitchen option, just not big on the red colour but

Be interested to hear from people who have seen it or owned the silhouette under the  banner.

Base price is $35K (on road model) according to this article (but if you option them and do the off road version it will go up like the tested model in the article at $52K).

It looks shmick & windsor build great stuff but to have a massive premium versus a Jayco or goldstream with pretty much the same layout is a big ask. You could be getting an awesome hybrid unit in that range

Agree with you.

I am still looking at a new Kimberley Kamper Limited Camping Trailer,  just looking at options with the amount of money we are about to spend.

If it was just the wife and I it would be simple, looking at the best options for the kids as well.

I like the Kokoda just don't like the fact that they Subbie  out to all sorts to build the thing

Looks like a goog build.

I would love to find a hybrid that is good for a family. They are seem to be set up with the double/queen beer set up only. We have 2 little kids so throwing them outside in a swag is not an option according to my wife.

Maybe I get the hybrid for them all to sleep in and I swag it outside.

The gold stream with the slide out kitchen is mid 50's straight up and doesn't have in internal kitchen. Jayco doesn't have anything to offer that hasn't climbed out of the 1970's.  No premium there.

Funny thing is you read on the forum sites the same thing, family's looking at the hybrid market but there is nothing to cater for a family. Its a shame a few manufacturers haven't woken up to it and marketed a model at that group. Many of us don't want to step up to a caravan but are looking for the options after a camping trailer.

We are a family of 3 (mum, dad and little miss 9yo) and we like the pop top caravans so it fits under the carport.

When looking, it amazes me the average caravan is at least 20 foot, and it only caters for two people.

I remember in the 70's and 80's when mum and dad had a 14 footer Windsor with 3 kids.

Mum and dad inside and the brats on bunk beds in the annex.

You'll be lucky to see a van under 20 foot in caravan parks these days.

It seems they industry is catering for the Grey Nomad and the family isn't being considered anymore.

When you discuss with other camping families (Mum, Dad and a couple kids) they all say the same thing, its a camping trailer or a large caravan, there is nothing in between that is made to suit them.

Even the hybrid is really only marketed at the two person set up.

The van parks are getting too expensive so we want to be able to tow something off road and to that place you can enjoy without costing an arm and a leg. Most of the Caravans I wouldn't be willing to take off road due to the size.

 There are plenty of solid shell options with real off road credentials  around the $50k range.  Doesn't look great value to me.

that's one thing I'm looking at... enclosed annexe and stretchers or swags in there.
Any van with 4 beds really ups the price

But where are you going to put the 32" TV and toilet and shower and you couldn't possibly clear the dining table and make the kids sleep on that now!

We've just bought a 14' Windsor Rapid (expander) heaps of space for 5 of us.
