Shoal Point hey.  Used to live right on top of the point years ago.  Weathered a terrifying cyclone there.  Thought the high set house was going to be lifted up and dumped in the ocean.  Good luck and stay safe.

thanks, mate... we are back a bit from the point, so not as exposed...

i agree to an extent but theyre doing their job like it or not. you should never wish harm on anyone else. just a really stupid thing to post. those reporters and film crews have families kids and loved ones. who the F are you to wish harm on them. you may not agree with their career and where it takes them but why wish intentional harm on another person doing their job?

its news. simple. they send their anchor on the big jobs. regardless if its a local shop keeper or a backpacker or a big dollar tv anchor, there is never a need to wish harm on them. comments such as a tree or a roof hitting them. seriously is that helpful or any way to conduct yourself? wishing for or hoping for harm on someone else is so far from cool..

So much for the storm surge, didn't even make the rock wall.
This is at high tide & about 2m below the wall

They cant do it from the studio in Melbourne. The technology isnt there yet to show the storm and damage live while they are on the air...

It's a competition between news networks on who can get their reporter into the most dangerous spot.

I'd be happy just to see a decent lightning strike hit Kockie on the noggin. doesn't have to kill him, just zap the idiot on the head and maybe set fire to his pubic hair. (None on his head)

This bloke is just a f wit.  Trying to show off what a big man he is standing in a cyclone. Dickhead. He seriously needs a piece of palm or timber to hit him live on tv....would be a lesson for all..including the brain dead morons who were playing cricket. Funny that channel 2 didnt go into heroics and bullShit to present the news.

Had to smile at reporters talking up the great efforts and preparations to protect property against  the storm, camera  cuts to show  a series of  2m x 2m shop front panels of glass with a single X of 25mm painters masking tape [ As if that magic masking tape will hold the glass together if hit with objects hurled by 160 > 200 Kph + winds  ;D ]..
Then goes on to say about the king tides and 2 m to 3 m storm surge and 4 m plus waves being driven by 200 kph winds and the camera cuts to a strip of builders plastic being held down by a single row of sandbags across a double doorway .[ Yep thats going to stop the surge inundating the shops ] .
Now I understand people need to feel as though they have done all they can to protect their stuff and good on them for that ...  But they also need to be a bit realistic too .
Heres hoping no got hurt today .

oh&s worksafe or whoever the appropriate authority is should throw the book at this tard and his boss. asking to be hit by debris. its the same as traffic reporters standing in the middle of freeway reserves reporting on peak traffic at peak time with traffic flying by at 100 +. seems normal safety rules for workers goes out the window in journalism.
