That ain't no bargain. Did you read the engineers report. That and others like it should be crushed
and just the internals resold
just this bit is worrying enough
2.2 Welding
The welds observed on the chassis of the caravans were of questionable quality. Poor
preparation, poor welding technique and poor finishing of the welds has resulted in welds
which, in the Authors’ opinion, cannot be relied on. Some welds have a white substance
around them, the white substance is zinc that was likely released when the galvanised
coating burned. The weld was poorly prepared, the galvanised coating should have been
ground back prior to welding. The zinc is released when the galvanised coating is burned
during the welding process, if the zinc gas is caught in the weld, the weld becomes porous
and weak. The weld seen in Figure 4 is the weld that holds the leaf spring mount on the
chassis rails. The weld has okay contact with the two members however there is a lot of
splatter and uneven welding in the area. The weld appears to be porous and has not been
treated properly post weld, as illustrated in Figure 4 parts of the weld have begun to rust.
