Looking for nice spot to camp
« on: November 02, 2016, 07:27:25 AM »
Hi Guys
On the road up the Newell Hwy to pick up new Conqueror from Brissie
Thinking of pulling up for the afternoon somewhere between Goondiwindi & Toowomba
Any suggestions for a good bush camp in that region
Cheers

There is a nice free camp beside the creek in Allora and another at Rudds Pub in Nobby.  Good feed from the pub also.

A spot I was told of not long ago so I'm yet to visit.
It not free to camp($5) but the hot springs are.

I've bush camped in the Piliga just off the highway when on a quick run.
Looking at the park notes I'll explore it when I'm up there next.
The camp site there is free with few things on offer to see.

Talking to a bloke I used to work with awhile back. His Dad was a truckie back in 1940s-50s & Tony said he often told stories about weird things happening around Pilliga area - broken down cattle truck being found empty next morning with the cage bars ripped open; different spot - remains of dead cattle being found up a tree; sudden weird growling sounds & foul smell coming out of the bush when he's stopped for a quick pee. Reckoned most truckies wouldn't stop there in a pink fit.  ???

Please tell us more about the Princess

We stopped there on a day trip many(15?) years ago.
Sawn rocks is worth a look if you haven't seen that type of rock formation.
From memory caravans aren't to be towed up to the top/lookout area.

Another spot I wish to revisit and stay at(park fees apply)...

nice, my boss has got a 390. She's in the process of swapping the tent with a Bundu tent (http://bundutec.com.au/rooftop-tents/bundutop/) and awning (http://bundutec.com.au/awnings/bundu-l/). Sick of poles apparently.

I don't think they come with a manual, so take plenty of note during the hand-over (which is usually pretty good).

There is a fairly good source of info here- http://www.conquerorforum.com/

Cheers enjoy the new 390. great bit of kit  ;D
