Latest issue of Australian Muscle Car Magazine.  Great write up on the Can-Am series of the late 60's / early 70's and all the Aussies and Kiwis that competed.

Then just watched this new release doco on Bruce Mclaren.  Some brilliant original racing footage.

Yeah.  That's it. Single solid disc on the front.  Made it look like it could stop but it told lies. Vicious power band. Nothing till about 4500 rpm then all hell would break loose

Our story begins in 2003 when the Australian government issued a zero-tolerance ban on any and all asbestos products, aimed mainly at imported Chinese drywall, a problem America also faced at the time.

Fast forward to March 6, 2017 when, without prior warning to Shipping and Customs agents, let alone to owners, the Australian Border Force (ABF) began randomly testing all imported collector cars for asbestos, without any industry consultation, procedures or practices in place. One of our clients had two cars already en-route to Australia and so had no choice but to comply.

One was a 1966 Shelby Mustang 350 GT and the second a stock 1966 Mustang donor-car, found together as “barn finds” and imported into Australia for restoration.

Lucky for him, its about a 10klm round trip..... us, about 485klm round trip.

Geez, Greazfest was a good thing on Sunday. We left Tin Can @ 6am and didn't get home until 6pm and that was only because we left there a bit early.
Ran the last hour home in the pissing rain....but hey, the Fleetwood ain't made of sugar and the wipers work, so all good in that respect.
We covered 510 klm in comfort (Edz can confirm that) and the old girl never missed a beat, runs nice and cool and going by the thumbs up we got off everyone, looked good doing it.

Hers some more pics from yesterday (all Cadillac's)  ;D with a shot of a bagged 63 next to our 64....made ours look like a 4WD.  ???
Yeah, we sort of dressed for the occasion as well and hell, i even hit the dance floor a couple of times.

It pays to look beyond the subject car too, there was hundreds of cool old cars, swamp coolers mounted on window, stills mounted on the roof. you name it, it was at Greazfest 2017.

Food is a bit expensive on site, but pretty good quality though.

Flames lit up the night sky; the blaze could be seen from miles away. Witnesses said smoke was so thick they had to close nearby roads. About five percent of the cars were owned by folks who put their vehicle under consignment.

The business kept about 600 cars dating from the 1920s to the 1980s on the property. About a quarter of those cars burned.

Kev would have had palpatations I suspect at the Dust Up... none of this make it shiny and schmick... no, lob it around the centre of the showground ring or up the 200m flat track...

Didn't get a picture of the Torana being punted round, but the Impala went round a few times and made an awesome noise:





Some were a bit more purpose built:


Others just ran what they had:


Even had a "Jeep" in it.... not sure it was 100% Jeep though...

Kingy wagon was a Summernats car...


(and yes, the mud did reach the roofline...)

It was a bit of everything really though at the end of the day, and if you could get it sideways then it was fair game:


It was only $10/person spectator entry, and I think $30 car entry and $20 passenger. We got there at 11ish and left around 3pm...

There's a few other events that are in the same vein, so we're thinking about a suitable ute...
