This proposed Australian super fund bid comes hot on the heels of the Hancock Shanghai CRED joint bid that will require FIRB approval, state and territory government approvals as well as various Chinese government consents.

Looks like they have bid not bought.

I'd buy in.

Agriculture is always a bit boom and bust though, so I wouldn't expect a huge return on my investment, but I think it is probably a more ethical way to make a $$ than pouring more money into another shopping complex or another casino.

I see it as an investment in the countries food security. the fact that they cleared a profit of 50mil last year would help too. ;D

So did I.....  ???

Oh well, i'm not getting into a bidding war with Gina.

Besides, I'd have to sell my mowers to complete the sale too and they're like my children to me.

I dislike everything about her.
It shouldnt be that someone whos never done an honest days work in thier life can just slob it out on weath from resources that should belong to the Australian tax payer.
Bet she pays 3 cents in the dollar too... and 300 grand to her accountant

Back on topic ...

Investing your super in real estate, which is what this idea seems to be although it may be dressed up as something else, is something that needs to be considered very carefully.

As laudable as it would be to keep the properties in Australian hands (and not Ms Rhinehart's empire) its not a place for novice investors.

Just my 2c worth.

Yeah read the prospectus seperatley as the property that you are buying into and the farm and stock are two separate entities. So i don't know where it would leave you investment wise if they decided to stop running it as a working propertly. Probably just owning a share of land in the middle of nowhere that with no farming activities would be worth bugger all and impossible to sell
