Went today, spur of the moment thing, have never been to this event before, thought it wasn't to bad as its pointed more at the 4wd/Camping side of things as the caravan/camping have there shows though there was a few caravans and boats there.

Roothy had his own stand with Milo parked up on it ,he also went to the Opposite Lock stand, funny though he wasn't featured in any of the pictures on the Low Range stand, (Does he still do that?)

Jumped into the MUX on the Summit Ramp, that was a bit freaky, didn't here any screams from the other half in the back seat  >:D 

Jumped the queue for the test track buy booking in for a test drive with the Holden people, in the new colorado  probably get nagged to death from Holden now  ::)

Was planning to go and get me some Lightforce LED 215's and was hoping that there would be some discounts offered

Sorry, didn't see your posting sooner... Penrith off-road warehouse stand.
I went over the top and bought the HTXs. Wiring loom was the freebie thrown in.
I'm still married for the moment (after also picking up a winch at the tjm stand)

Took the easy path and ducked into ARB and said I could go to the show to get a deal on a kaymar bar or you could just do the same deal now?   :cheers:

our first time at the Eastern Creek show. Been to Rosehill too many time to count and the Penrith show is just down the hill so been there many times too...

*NO DOGS ALLOWED* ... so (unhappily) left Tucker at home and took the wife's Xtrail down to the 'creek. (it was parked at the top of the driveway and the cruiser was down the bottom...)

The wife kept grilling me on what I specifically wanted to see as she didn't want to spend the entire day wandering around for nothing (in her words)

I had three things on my list.

Mission Trailers, Metalian Trailers and Vista RV (never seen one live at a show before)

One the way in we stumbled across the locally built (made in South Windsor now), Teardrop Camper Companies new Maverick off road model with ALKO Enduro suspension. Spent some time checking that out and talking to the designer/manufacturer. Wife was quite impressed with what you get for the $$$

Next we checked out the Mission campers. Basically an expedition style trailer with a tent on top. South African made. Nice features. Wife also liked this one. Now this confused the hell out of me as previous discussions had been around the concept of minimal canvas.

Then... the Vista RV. Spent a long time there chatting to Tony who was most helpful (and patient). Kyria asked many questions and he answered with much information. But in our world $61k is just a teeny tiny bit out of our budget...

Couldn't find the Metalian campers, no matter how hard we looked... was tired and getting more and more sunburnt and hot... in the end we gave up.  Turns out that they were right beside Patriot. (who we had seen many times before and so didn't even look at).

Still keep coming back to the same problem though... The Teardrop was $31k, the Mission was $28k, the Metalian is around $29k. (all of which... for us, is stretching our minor budget)

But a used Tvan would be mid 20's... ranging from $23k to $27k. And I'm well confident as to the manufacturing quality of a Tvan. (even one that is 14 years old and been used to its fullest...)

So much to think about...

Meanwhile... I got some cool ideas for the Half an 80 Series camper.

Out of interest did they move much on pricing?  I am looking at one at the moment as I reversed into a wall over the weekend and so need to replace the stock bumper - so Kaymar will only be another $1200 or so over the standard bumper.

I have spoken to ARB and they would move, but not much for me.

Nah Roothy left Low Range to run in the election again, Ernie Dingo took his place. Though he may come back as a guest in later episodes.

The QLD senate in the last federal election, not sure what seat though

I actually think someone like Roothy will do well in the senate.
He should ran as an independent and his base should be outdoor Australian living.
Anyway, I'll vote for him.

Just image Roothy arriving at Parliament with shorts and tongs!
