Bathurst 2016
« on: October 02, 2016, 01:05:07 PM »
Bathurst is next weekend, end of an era with the manufacturing plants falling silent this year, and Ford and Holden pulling back their sponsorship. Yes the current cars do not resemble the production cars, however 'win on Sunday, sell on Monday' still holds true. Massive amount of engineering/skill/luck just to finish let alone win. Let's hope it's a ripper race!
I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go…

lets be honest.. you only need to see first 5-10 and last 5-10 laps and sleep in the middle and you miss very little.

That's about it really these days, although, the top10 shout out is good.

I would watch from start to finish years ago. Not now, too friggin boring.

For me I have become worse watching the race. I now kick the family out of the house before the race starts and they are only allowed back once the race has finished  ;D. I have small plates of food prepared and during the ads I get up and collect a plate, have a stretch and get ready for the next part.

This is my one day of doing absolutely nothing but watch the race  I don't even answer the phone unless it is an ad break and if the person is still talking when the race comes back on I just hang up.

I dont kick the clan out, but SWMBO does make sure that I get bacon and eggs before the race and prepares lunch and snacks for me during!

Been doing this for the entire 30 years of married life, except cans of beer instead of plates.... :)  Only missed this for 2 years, when I was actually there!  This year is Bathurst #46 for me.

Again the commentators is there a back channel we can avoid them? I watched RPM yesterday and that clown Mclaughin was there sprouting about how close the last 5 bathursts  have been in seconds!  Felt like screaming at the TV "pace car you idiot" I like the racing but I don't need some tool beating it up.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

If you've got Foxtel, use the red button.

4 channels to choose from (general coverage, in car cameras, pit lane, helicopter. I watch the general coverage, and when the ad's come on, push the red button.

When you push the RED Button, do you go faster, or, get launched by an ejector seat?
