Will be interested to see how the interior is set up.  Doesn't look like it has a front fold out bed (which is a good thing IMO)

And appears to have a roll out awning each side  :cup:

Yeah mate, would be good to see how the bed/s are configured.  Had a good look at Spada's a while back and was impressed (also impressed by your mighty hybrid too)

Price might be the killer >:(

Thinking better weight distribution and lower towball weight.  Should handle better, less sway.

Geoff will pop along soon and explain it better  ;D

All of the above KB. Also improved ramp-over and departure angles, and running 4 tyres allows much lower tyre pressures to be used when appropriate.

There appears to be a fair fore/aft distance between wheels on the Conquistador. Would be interesting watching/listening to it making tight turns on hard surfaces... :o

She looks to be a BIG girl.... ;D

I believe it was built in South Africa as a prototype (I think all those photo's were taken at their factory), not sure that it ever went into production though ? There were some other pictures of the same unit taken a few years ago outside a convention centre in South Africa, but again, no internal pictures ?

I've never seen any internal pictures, but I'd say it would be a North/South bed set up at the rear, as I think they're a bit too narrow to have an East/West bed. the extra length might be for a small internal dinette arrangement. The usual outside pantry door has been replaced with a second window, so maybe there is some sort of small inside kitchen,  but it would be small. The roof pop's up at both ends, instead of hinging from the rear like the single axle versions. You can see it up in one picture, but it has no canvas on it, which supports the prototype theory ?

There is no provision externally for gas bottles, so I guess they are inside the front box (if in fact it is anything other than a bare shell at the time of the photo's) which means it wouldn't be compliant for Aust in that form, but then the Aust 490's have the gas modified anyway ?, or perhaps a diesel cooker ?

The one pictured still has the external shower, which suggests the extra length has not been to accommodate an internal bathroom ? and the removal of the external pantry & table/shelf suggests that all of that must somehow be all internal in that design ?

Ultimately, I believe the photo's are of a prototype mock-up of something that could be, but never was ?

At a guess, I would think it would be a "swing down" action.
Oh! The front one= yes, some effort there :(

I asked the question over on the Conqueror forum (un-official, but seems there are some in the know over there), unconfirmed info is that there is one heading to Aus for road trials ?

Still haven't found any info about specs or layout though.

This is all that was written about it on a South African dealer's FB page (where I stole the photos from).

"The all new Double wheel Commander has arrived at Conqueror Northgate. Our NEW project that will be over a two week period of custom work, that will be led by Riguard de Beer and his Conqueror team."

so can somebody explain why they fit aggressive mud terrain tyres to a trailer?

Sure everybody wants a tough look but those tyres have only about 50% tread on their surface area

Pressure = Force / Area

in my reckoning this would suggest more drag and more tracks getting chewed up?

in my case my old muds from the tug replaced the really old AT's on the camper.

I don't think the trailer would chew up the track......the tug dragging a big arse trailer would chew the track up well before the trailer wheels will

MT's seem to be the norm these days....I tried to fit AT's to our replacement tug but the wife wanted MT's and given it her daily drive I couldn't argue

...but there are twice as many of them... ;D

Some like to run the same tyre on the trailer as they have on the car. Allows interchangeability.

yes weeds MT are popular for the tug but this is a new trailer?

GeoffA are you going to pull a wheel off the trailer to put on your tug?
the spares can be to suit both but a tyre like that on a trailer does not make sense to me?
