Purchased No.5 Army Trailer
« on: September 14, 2016, 05:38:24 PM »
Ok so the good news is I won a graysonline auction this arvo for a no.5 army trailer . Bad news is I stuffed up big time and bid on the Townsville auction instead of the Brisbane auction . So I have rang them and they said all they can do is re auction the trailer to recoup cost for me . Any swaggers in Townsville looking for a cheap trailer ??? Or does anyone have any idea on what freight would cost to Lismore NSW . Ordinarily I wouldn't mind so much but I have just been off work (no pay) for 8 weeks due to injury so am scraping on the bones off my arse as it is

Sounds like it was the day for it, one of the boys who works for me in Geelong bought one in the auction at Sydney! Anyone in Sydney want one let me know!

Bugger. I've nearly done that on ebay with 'pick up only' items in Melbourne.
I'm driving to Bundaberg tomorrow with an empty towball (well overnighting In Rocky tomorrow night, Bundy on friday), so could tow it that far for you. But  it would need to be ready to go tomorrow morning. However I can't remember how long the paperwork and permit takes.

I'm kicking myself too.
I would snap it up in a second, I'm in Townsville Monday/Tuesday, driving home on Wednesday.
But I'm in Townsville picking up my boat and I think the law frowns on road trains behind dual cab utes these days.

Good luck with it mate.

yeah Pete I am pretty bummed about it , been waiting a while to get one . Couldn't really afford it in the first place and now I have to pay for it and not receive it . Was looking forward to pulling it down and giving it a blast and paint doing a few mods and using it with the family camping .

No worries. I am back in Townsville probably Tuesday night.
At $350, it s a bargain. If I wasn't spending a fortune travelling  this weekend I would snap it up.
If you can't offload it I could probably find someone to store it for you while you sort out transport.
Could put it on a local buy swap sell page if you like.

Storage was going to be my suggestion too... I'm sure a swagger up there could hold on to it for a while to help you out

Keep in mind it's not as straight forward as hooking and delivering......

You will need a pintle hook as the trailer has a lunette ring.....I used to have a pintle hook mounted to a custom hayman Reece type  receiver but I sold it to a mate.

Electrics is your next problem, you need a nato plug to what ever you have on your car adaptor.....cheapest option is a light board they use on boat trailers

Last tripping point is it un-registered, a permit would be easy to arrange.

I have offer to help a guy that brought a trailer in the Sydney auction but lives in Brisbane.

That's why I thought I'd offer to help move it. I already have the pintle hook and plug adapter for my own Track tactical trailer - based camper. I've never bothered to change the coupling :)

Hey Matt would you want the trailer if I gave you time to pay ? Hows 6 weeks or so sound ? If I go down the road of you picking it up , someone storing it and then onselling it that whole process would take time and cost me multiple cartons so I am happy if you want it . It was my stuff up in the first place .

Good stuff. Glad you sorted  it.
Sorry I haven't replied before now. Been travelling today.
Thanks for your offer below.  If your current buyer falls through, I'll take it.

I dug out my build thread, but I can't see the pictures anymore.  Might have to refresh the image links sometime soon

I saw one someone had modified and of course wanted one. A few came up at a couple of auctions  here at Manheim Fowles about 5-6(I think) years ago. Didn't have the cash first time around.
But kept an eye out for the next few auctions.
Finally they auctioned off five tactical trailers and a couple of 8x5s.
Would have loved to buy more than one if I had the $$.
