Sydney transit help

G,Day all Sydney locals and people that transit in and around Sydney ..
I have to get to the BMA House [ Circular quay end of Macquarie st I believe ] for a medical  on friday the 9th of sept .. Would anyone have advice as to the quickest / best  way from the Airport to the Quay end of that street  ?? I havent been into Sydney since 1985 and thinking things may have changed a little

you can catch the airport train, might mean a change at central to get to circular quay station, short walk up the hill frm there
or
a city bus from central will probably go to the door

Beaten to it, but I'll post it anyway........Probably easiest to get the train. There's a station under the domestic airport terminal and that'll get you to Circular Quay on 20 minutes and probably cost about $4. A cab will take longer and cost considerably more.

Or try $15.76 and needs an Opal card... the problem is the station access fee of $13! Never mind how to get an Opal card... it's another thing on the list of reasons for me not to go Sydney... that and needing a ePass or whatever for the tolls on the road (luckily I can get to where I want to go without going on the Toll roads)

Edit: found that opal card thingy on the travel site [ will go to our RTA  tomorrow and get one ]   .. Cost is   $15:76 Airport to the quay  and $16:38 to return back to the Airport ..[  Train T2  ]...  aprox 20 mins into the city and aprox 17 to return if they run on time ..
Hey PD what was that $13 cost for I couldnt find a reference to it on the travel NSW site .

That is literally the building behind my office.  Train from airport to Circular quay and walk up the hill. Otherwise Martin Place, but  you are changing trains at Central/Town Hall. 

Taxi will be about $35 ($50 if you get caught in peak hour)
Train will be cheaper unless you have a travel companion - $14 each person each way....

Paper tickets are no longer sold since 1 August. but you get single trip Opal card for $14 from the vending machines (might need a card rather than cash to pay) - Which looks like a paper ticket with the word Opal written on it.  Just tap on when you get on and tap off when you get off.

That's almost funny. Costs me less than that for a return from Macarthur going through the airport stations. How do they get away with that?

You can get a single use opal card at the station. Will save you getting an opal card putting money on it etc.

Been at the Wynyard station upgrade for sometime now and help so many lost souls each day find their way

It would be nice,  Thanks for the offer TK, but Im thinking Im going to be pushed for time .. I have no control over my flight travel  times as its in the hands of a Work Cover  insurance company and lets just say I'm not exactly their favourite person ATM ... I won they lost .

You'd have to wonder though (& you probably have!), why they'd fly you to Sydney to see a Doc rather than just coming up to the GC, or even Brisvegas 

Pretty sure that we've got the same Specialists up here that they do down there!

Because when you get the ticket price from the NSW transport website it says "includes $13 station access fee"

The Sydney Domestic Airport train station and Sydney International Airport train station are both privately-owned by the Airport Link Company, but the line is not. But the government creams some of that money via a revenue sharing agreement

And it's not the cheapest way to travel . When I lived in Newtown the cab was cheaper than a train. Airport to city is $14 one way. ($28 Return per person). Have 2 people and it's $28, family of four and it's $56. A single cab journey is about $35 so as soon as you have more than one passenger the cab becomes cheaper to a city destination

It would probably take you too long in this case but if it is likely to happen again, run for Parliament and then misuse your entitlements on a helicopter, followed by a visit to a taxpayer funded bordello.
Not that I am hinting you are the type of sleazy character to do that.

Simple, as they only want to deal with those that they have business relationships with and generally in the capital city of that state. They couldn't care less how far you have to travel In fact it is in their best interest to make it as hard as possible for you because if you don't attend etc then they can wipe you as not participating

Thanks for all the info about the train and etc, Finaly  received flight times and a travel allowance [ bonus  ] ..
Look out Sydney here I come, If all goes to schedule I will be lowering property values in Sydney from 11.40 am once I have landed 
Then its train  to the quay and a wander off up around the corner  to Macquarie st ..
Is there anything I should be aware of on the walk from the quay ?? .. God botherers, out of control accountants, groups of  viscious girl guides etc .. Do I need to put my scary face on

Also if you get past all the idiots chasing freakin Pokeyourmums you'll then have to deal with the tourists taking happy snaps.

Enjoy, the view are good though and plenty of good places to eat.

No mate,  Just a flying visit for a medical assessment  [ guessing that could get exciting, Eeek ]  after lunch and then try to get back to the airport in enough time for a 6 pm return flight home ..
