Just had a piss up with my family and best mates, I'm easy to please.

This is what the wife and kids planned for me., but my mum passing away the day before made for a pretty somber affair. So I am having a do over next year.

Still got 10 years to the five 0. My 40th is next month and I didn't want the big party at home with 100+ people that costs a fortune.

Instead I've got a 2 week road trip with the fam and 20 others booked. Heading from Vic to Airlie Beach in a convoy towing a few fishing boats and a jet ski. Then its 7 nights camping (old school camping) on Whitehaven Beach.????

We were expecting big things of Yosemite last year. On the way there we went thru Death Valley and came out at a place called Lone Pine. Just outside town is a place called Alabama Hills where they filmed a lot of westerns and a bit further out is a mountain called Mount Whitney and you can drive most of the way to the top ( called Whitneys portal, 12,000ft tall ) and after seeing this breath taking white granite mountain peak, Yosemite lost a bit of it's wonder.
We now urge anyone to try and see both.

Last year the dollar was still over 94c so cost of things was still good.

That was our plan, till I told the wife that at the time of year we are going Death Valley will be about 50 degrees.  So we flew to Oakland and picked the car up there instead

Saw a few signs around that said to turn off the aircon if overheating was imminent ???  WTF...how about designing cars that can take a bit of heat !!

I got the big day early in the new year.
Sadly my funds (rather lack of) are not going to extend to much more than a box of beer.
Lucky I own a swag, can put a fridge in the back, so I may be going up the cape, even if it is on my pat Malone, few weeks of nothing is all i want.
Then soon after the big day, my passport expires and I hope to never renew it.

Agreed. Im in Perth this week. Home next but Germany after that. A few weeks at home then Korea, Taiwan and China plus plenty of other interstate. It Shits me a bit but it has no bearing on wanting to travel for fun. Totally different experience. I almost look at it as holiday recce and pleasure flight upgrade points
