Dishwashers. Who's got what and are you happy with it?

Righto, our 6 y.o. Bosch has Shit itself completely. We are looking at $400 to fix it and would rather tip that money into a new one. I was looking at Meile and Asko but for expensive machines, they seem to have their share of problems. Westinghouse was on the list but has mixed reviews. Will not have L.G. in my house. Also looked at an Ariston which seems to have a good following. I know that you will get haters of all brands and always the chance of getting a lemon.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Wifey has started expecting me to wash up. Shits getting real.

The newer series dish drawers from F&P are much better than the old ones were. I actually like them now. We have asko clothes washer and dryer combo - the mrs wont tell me how much she paid for them, but I'd recommend getting extended warranty if you decide to go with them. We've had good after sales service with them, but like Land Rover, they bloody well need it.

Don't use dishwashing liquid in what ever you get... I learnt the hard way that it is not compatible with dishwashers... I blame the English - Strine translation failing, and me believing that if it says dishwashing liquid that it goes in the dishwasher...

We have the Armstrong brand dishwasher, been going strong now for years and really reliable, Uses stuff all power and is reasonable on the water bill too, pretty quiet in the operation mode and leaves the dishes etc sparkly clean..
 The only real time it has had problems, is if its had too many beers prior to being set into operation..  ;D
Sorry couldnt help it, The last one we had was a Westinghouse from memory, never had a drama with it in over the 5 years we lived there ..

We have an LG with no issues for about 5 years (I know you don't want one)

Cutlery rack at the top is useless and a waste of space. Only use it for the sharp knives.

We have an ariston, we had an LG last time and found it didn't heat the water hot enough.

Very interested to know which model you have and any more thoughts on your Ariston. I really am leaning towards them. Sick of paying big bucks thinking you are getting a better product, yet it still Shits itself the same as a cheapy would.

We bought our 2nd Meile last year.  The 1st one lasted more than 20 years.

We plumbed ours to the hot water which has reduced our costs as we have gas hot water.  It would work even better with solar.

So.. I just put a new f&p double dish drawer into the house...
Why might you ask.

Well I've had a single one in my caravan for the past 3 years and it's been on the roughest roads in the country and is still going strong...! It has worked flawlessly for the day it went in. Gets run from generators, weird water and all the normal camping environments and it's still like new and gets used everyday...

I think that's not a bad test to see how the dishwasher performs.

Asko. Got 18yrs on ours with a solenoid valve and a capacitor replaced along the way. I'd buy another Asko without hesitation ... It's not dead yet  :D

We had a Samsung it was a piece of Shit, had the same problem fixed 3 times under warranty then I demanded a refund. Bought a Bosch an couldn't be happier.

We've had an AEG for 30 years now.  The cutlery basket has developed some annoying cracks, the  stainless steel lining is mildly discoloured and the tenants we had in at one stage cracked the outer casing. So we need to replace it.

Gosh they are expensive for brands that brand that don't have good reputations.....  And the specs show the old one is still quieter than anything I have seen in the market today. >:(

We've got a cheap Dishlex. It's going on 6 yrs old now. Had no dramas at all.
Every fortnight we give it a cycle with the Finish brand dishwasher cleaner and that's it.

We bought a Bosch for our last house and it was great for the 3 years we were there. We currently have a Smeg which would be 14 years old now and the hinged cover where you open the door has just jammed so I took it out and the detergent lid doesn't release so I throw a tablet in the bottom with no issues whatsoever.

We have a Siemens dishwasher. Supposed to be the next level up from the Bosch range of products (same manufacturer) with Siemens being the premium range and Bosch mid range quality.
It does a good job of washing the dishes and is quiet.
