We are thinking of doing the Gibb River Road (last time we travelled this was in 1986) and Warra Station - Coral Bay.  We have tented in the past, but not something we want to do any more.

I have compared both the Goldstream and the Jayco and from what I can ascertain, if we want to go off road then the Goldstream is probably the way to go.  We are also thinking that in the next 12 months we might take off for at least 6-12 months.

I also wanting to know how many batteries and how much solar is required for free camping for at least a Week.

I am also trying to establish how effective/ reliable the 3 way fridges are in the heat as there seems to be conflicting data and if we should just bite the bullet and go with a compression fridge.

That really depends on you. I had one and I think they're worth it. That said I wouldn't buy new as they depreciate a lot compared to the Jayco. They are very good buying second hand. Keep in mind you can destroy anything on any road, it is all about driving to the conditions and your vehicle/camper.

great advice
That's what we did. Yes you do run the risk of buying someone elses problem. Sometimes it will be better to buy with a warranty. Do your research for issues/quirks with Make and model. You'll be right.
I'm sure that you know all of this anyway.
Good luck
