Well worth the investment
« on: August 04, 2016, 11:17:01 AM »
We went camping up Broken Hill a few weeks back and as we were about 1hr out of Mildura ,one of the kids in the back said they felt sick. Hitting the brakes and just as I got him out, it started to flow. Anyway we get back into the car and keep driving. As we got into Mildura I pulled over so we could buy some sick bags from Chemist Warehouse, just in case.

So I install the sick bags in the pockets behind the front seats and like a flight steward explain what to do in an emergency.

As we head further into town I asked if everyone was feeling OK and got the thumbs up. I pulled over to the side of the road so the Mrs could run across to bakers delight to get a few things. Next thing I know I'm hearing vomit sounds from the back. Sure enough the young bloke is going hard at it again and filled the bag up half way.

When it was all over I asked him if he had any signs it was coming on and he answered no. He recons all there was time for was to grab the bag.

So the moral to the story is $3 saved my car and carpet 1 litre full of vomit.

No one suffers from carsickness but every pocket now in the Patrol has a sick bag installed  :D.

Had the same experience with the missus when she had morning sickness. As the saying goes, never leave home without them :)

We have them in the door pockets in the second row seats. Agree cheap insurance. My only concern is the kids have played with them a bit and there is a risk of them having holes in them.

One of my kids had a stint in hospital and they had a whole carton of these by the door...

Back in the 70's, when my mrs was preggers with our first, I used to have a rectangular bucket that I normally used for washing the car, sitting on the floor in front of her.... just in case. One morning driving down the old Toowoomba Range road, we get about halfway down, and she grabs for the bucket, and got it just in time. A bit later, the sun was pretty bright, so I asked her to pass my sunglasses to me. Where are they? she says. Umm I think they were on the dash I told her...... She looked into the bucket, sure enough, they had slid off the dash and into the bucket.  ??? She wiped them off and gave them a rinse with a water bottle she had and passed them over to me. But my left eye was playing up I thought, till I took the glasses off, and there was still a chunk of pineapple stuck on them...  :'(

I tend to get a bit woozy on long trips if I'm sitting in the back - or on a bus, till someone put me onto a travel sickness tablet called Kwells
Best thing for me, and they're chewable without a horrid taste, can also get a kid's version....no worries about holes in bags, or regurgitated pineapple  ;)   ;D
