Bit of a pity about the DPF though  8)

Have heard, and no idea of the validity of this, is that Toyota are considering a recall of the new 200 series due to issues with the DPF in that model.  Has anybody else heard anything along these lines?

Price rise of 3.5 - 5 thousand, from what I heard and dealers will remove DPF or blank it according to FB 76page.

They need the DPF to meet emissions, removing them will not only void the warranty it will also make them illegal.

Mixed results are around on the new 200 banger. Some are having no problems with the DPF and others are having majors. Like most of this new emission stuff you need to drive it for it to work, the little drive to the shops and back looks like problems for any DFP.

Like all modern computer cars the tech heads are already out with ways to turn all the stuff which is a pain off as well

I am quite happy with the 200 with the stock exhaust ripped out and a new 3 inch system installed.

Decent stereo? Auto box? Electric mirrors? decent snorkel that doesn't sound like it's trying to suck itself inside out? ergonomics closer to 2010 than 1987?

I love cruisers and the 70 is a tuff beast. I would have a 70 dual cab in a heartbeat if they had even a semblance of a modern vehicle on the inside.

Have they fixed the wheel track issue yet?
Or a rear floor pan and doors to suit the dual cab ute, or still Troopy doors and pan?
With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

Friend of mine bought a new 70 single cab ute.
One of the first things he did was replacing the exhaust.

Saw this a little while ago. You would think Toyota could do it themselves.

i don't find it a massive issue myself, have noticed it off-road but the vehicle still goes where I want it to. On the beach in other people's wheel tracks it's noticeable, lower tyre pressures as usual and make your own tracks, the V8 chugs through it easily. Seems to me that non owners of the vehicles make the biggest deal about the wheel track difference.

For 99.9% of people it won't go any further, any better than my '93 tilly with the 1HZ, after market turbo & 3" dump.
I'd like to compare economy too!

151kw and 430nm is pretty ordinary for a modern, electronically controlled 4.5L V8 diesel.

Factor in some $$ for a bit of livening-up, and away we go.....

Coming from a 105 series running aftermarket turbo, intercooler and 3" exhaust on a 1HZ motor, I can tell you the untouched standard exhaust running V8 engine tows my 1.5+ tonne camper a hell of a lot easier then the 1HZ did. No idea about fuel economy though, it's not something I measure.

Always seems people want a soft vehicle.  The 70s is the last of the agricultural vehicles and is going more and more soft it seems with each new release.  It is what it is and still expected to do what it was originally designed for.  Often amused with people making noise over the different wheel track.  People seem to have a short memory or just don't realise how many other vehicles have different track and it has never been a problem.
Cheers

Aircon is still a dealer option....

Are you talking about just the ute body or the Ute, Troopy and the wagon KB?

The safety upgrades are for the single cab ute only at the moment. Expect them to trickle down to others sometime.
"First, safety. Easily the top-seller is the two-door cab chassis, so the bulk of the money has gone here. It now has the fleet-required five-star ANCAP crash rating thanks to a total of five airbags (up from two), stability control, traction control and a stiffer frame.
Alas, the five-door cab chassis, five-door wagon and Troop Carrier only get the new electronics and not the rest, and remain untested by the safety watchdog.
The cost of engineering the changes into all was deemed too high to be viable, since the world’s other major markets beyond Australia —Africa and the Middle East — aren’t exactly crying out for any such features."
