Goodbye Mt Barnett, hello next job
« on: June 06, 2016, 08:52:38 AM »
After being at Mt Barnett for 2 months we have decided to leave due to the "behind the scenes" stuff that goes on here.

We leave this Wed and head to Kununurra and it looks like we have work lined up at Mataranka.

What behind the scenes stuff happens out there (no finer details required)?? Is it staff/work related or the locals?

It has been interesting following your posts but it is very intriguing trying to put together what life is actually like out there!!!!

We took on the job with expectations of working but unfortunatly we were only getting 4 to 5 hrs a day if we were lucky. I even worked a number of 2 hour shifts which was a waste.  We were told things would improve and our hours would increase to 7 to 8 hrs a day as told when we took the job on but it never happened. More staff arrive and suddenly they were getting the long hours so an hours notice was given
and we packed up and left.

What they need is young staff that like to get drunk every night make loud noise, play loud music and to have no experiance. We were camped in our camper only 50 feet behind all this.

There was alot more but I wont post it up.As they say its all part of learning.

We arrived in Kununurra today and have had 2 phone interviews that look very promising. Full time jobs with good money.

Wow hey, that sucks. Especially when basically your whole lively hood relies on the work. The only way to find out is to try I suppose, and by the sounds of it you are giving it a red hot go!!!!!!

Having worked out there & it seems to be a young persons gig . Having your camp 50 ft away from "Party Central " is no fun at all . lf your work is what you wanted & are enjoying & your camp is happy for you then its worthwhile , but if you don't like it Don't Do It . Beat the feet , Treg up & make dust . You will quickly discover there is a whole new world out there .   Enjoy
