We add 10ml of water purifier we bought when we got the inline filter, 10ml per 80 litre tank is supposed to be good for 12 months, never empty the tanks out.

Ask someone on the land what they do with their tanks.

We clean ours every 15 to 20 years. Most water tanks have the outlet about 75mm above the bottom so you can get a fair bit of sediment in there before they need cleaning. Don't just pick on us country folk plenty of people in the city have rain water tanks.

I just flushed mine on the weekend actually. probly doesn't even need that but it's been sitting for a couple years.

Filled it, drained it, filled it again. good to go. Just ran the pump while I was at it to flush the lines.

agree with the country house tank water analogy. I never did anything with my house tanks for the 10 years we were on tanks save for installing a post pump filter.

The tanks at home (rural- rain water) go down, we don't flush them. They fill with rain, we keep drinking it.

Just make sure the daylight can't get at the water.

Black tank, or plastic tank inside a fully enclosed cavity specifically constructed to house the tank.
Black lines from tank to pump and taps.
