Queenkat, I have a Kaymar rear bar with dual rear wheel carriers. It provides the connection points.
The guard has bungee chords with plastic end hooks (ebay) that loop around the connection points on the rear bar.
If you don't have a similar rear bar, you'd need to provide something across the rear of your car to attach the guard to.

I drop one corner of the guard if I need to get into the back of the car. Very quick and easy.

Not sure Traveller, but you're correct....it's not shade cloth. It was something that my canvas bloke already had.
IIRC, he said at the time it was a type of trampoline material. It is similar to the stuff you see on tramps, but it's not as heavy.

The stonestomper is great and it does reduce dust considerably. That style is much better than the stone guard type. I built a mother of a stone guard on the Expanda that sloped back and while it work well it also cost fuel.

The only area the stonestomper fails is in mud . Otherwise brilliant

The original sloping stone guard on the front of the Coota uses much the same material as has been used for my stomper, so the material seems to be not all that unusual.

In an earlier post, Theo says his guard is made from "truck mesh", and looks similar. Perhaps there are several names/descriptions for the stuff, and that's a starting point??

That's another advantage of having it above the draw bar.
While it still catches some mud, it doesn't hang down as low when it does.....
