Moving across the ditch
« on: May 18, 2016, 01:16:55 PM »
After 8 months of looking for work I have finally been offered a role...problem is its in Auckland but its what I am looking for and with little opportunity in oz I dont have many options... so I have 1 1/2 weeks to get things sorted before I fly out. Hardest part is leaving the kids (they live with there mother) but technology is easy and school holidays are coming, flights are cheap plus I will have to comeback a few times to sort things out.
Then I look at all my stuff.... camper trailer is only a few months old so will send that over in a container when the girlfriend moves over in 6 months... I popped into modcon to see if they had shipped any to NZ and they will help me with there contacts... cant fault their service.
Car will have to be sold....Best car I have owned but with 91 petrol at $1.76 per litre yesterday not keen on running a hemi there
Motorbike is to new to sell so will ship that over next month.... and so many bicycles. I have 6 weeks left of being a Qantas platinum frequent flyer so will cart as much as I can with my extra baggage allowance and have to come back to Brisbane race at the end of June so another load .
Its a funny feeling having lived in Australia for 35yrs and now having to head back... at least I have new places to explore  and will be a nice change talking to people that dont have an accent....well apart from the other Australian who is also starting soon.

Good luck back home.

You can start up an NZ branch of myswag and get a couple of camping weekenders happening.

One thing you will note is Camper Trailer are not really used and when my brother inlaw looked they were very expensive, good choice in shipping it over.
