Stretcher Bed
« on: May 15, 2016, 05:37:02 PM »
Hello,
I need help with these beds as I'm in Western Australia and would like to hear some feedback before buying from the east.

I've got no experience with them, however they look pretty flimsy.

I've got the 'x leg' style, both Oztent and Rays brand. They hold 100kgs ok and are comfortable with a Thermarest on top. They do packup largish though.
I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go…

Work - Outback
Play - Prado

Looking at the design and having never seen one in the flesh, I'd give it a miss.

Lots of pivot points with lots of rivets and fiddly little clips = lots of potential points of failure.

I have had a few cheap chairs of similar construction and they never have a long life, camp sites are littered with them too, so I don't think I'm the only one.

Have a look at something like this: It might take a bit longer to set up, but they are a lot more heavy duty and are basically what the military gets issued these days. 5000 soldiers and 10000 asylum seekers sleeping on them can't be wrong.

I bought a swag off these guys, it was good quality and shipped in super quick time.

I don't personally have these but have set up a few, have a mate who refuses to set them up for his kids as his wife won't let him get new ones. They are solid and won't break easy but wouldn't be top of my list
