Another drawers question?
« on: April 17, 2016, 05:17:11 PM »
Afternoon,

I need some drawer slides to put my new stainless kitchen on.
What is my best bet?
I need it to hold the kitchen unit (970mm & ~30kg)
but extend ~1070mm to clear past tailgate lip etc.

my main issue is cost, i can get 1000mm extension slides for around $100 but because i cant find any that extend ~1100mm in the lighter duty (125kg type) they double+ in price.
Is there some cheap way to get an extra 100mm out of the lighter duty slides?

Ansley

Unless you can offset the kitchen (to the slides) further back and/or put up with the end of the kitchen not making it all the way out I don't think so, eBay has them for $170 so I think it would be easier to spend the $70 more than try to come up with an alternate solution. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1100mm-SUPER-HEAVY-DUTY-225-KG-ball-bearing-fridge-drawer-slide-runner-locking-/171193163858?hash=item27dbe86052:g:iaAAAOSw7n9XEtRO
Alternatively I assume you have considered mounting it on the tail gate but ruled it out for some reason, if not this might be another option.

You can make up a roll out arrangement out of bearings as the wheels running on RHS SHS. Have a look at ute under tray roll out drawers, they are on this arrangement.
There are a few threads where some have made their own roll out kitchens using same, a search will show you how to do it.

Those bearing roller types look great bust most I've seen have a pretty high profile. My trailer is a standard height poly tub.so looking to keep height as low as possible. Also being a flip down rear rules a swinging kitchen out.

Fair enough, maybe a Drifta style non bearing slide and leg combo might be an option, if you mounted it on a bit of ply a bit longer than the actual kitchen you could slide it out a bit further to get clearance.

anyone tried these? basic design, jumbo size wardrobe slides.

They would probably be good but I would think about a drop down leg as well as I think Kitchen+ sink full of water + stuff on and in the unit + someone inevitably leaning on it and it would be nearing to exceeding its weight limit.
