I found stubbie coolers in a crazy clarks, or somewhere similar. They are very thin wetsuit material. As far as coolers go, they are rubbish, but were cheap and more than up to the job of preventing chaffing.

How about duct tape?

Just a single layer from top to bottom of the can should be enough to stop them rubbing together, shouldn't it?

If the cans are warm, the tape should stick OK, so the cheap as tape from the $2 shop should work, rather than the cost of Gorilla tape or equivalent - but hey, considering the possible consequences, tape is cheap!  :D

I use those thick red rubber bands like Oz Post use.
(When I remember)
Sometimes one in the middle. Sometimes one at the top and one at the bottom subjective to laziness.
Had heaps of cans leak on a few trips. But never one i put the elastic bands on.

Cheap and easy.

Use ratchet strap around the entire cartoon of a 30 pack as a constrictive bandage,then when needed tighten up to stop slipping

Carried many a 30 can block in the Coota. Haven't lost a can in there yet. Did lose one in the fridge in the car on the Kimberley trip last year, but I can live with that. Not too bad considering all the k's and corrugations.

Blocks fit better in the drawers in the Coota, and with enough fridge space there are no loose cans in boxes to worry about..... ;D ;D

Think it might help to say where you also store the cans in the vehicle and vehicle type

I have also just had the cans in the carton and never lost one

I have the back seat removed and the cans (multiple blocks) stored there on a flat surface

They had some rub marks on the cans but not through the paint

Storage in the rear or in a front storage box on a trailer would get more movement IMO

Years ago I lost quite a few tins travelling in the high country from wear. Swapped over to stubbies and the problem was solved.

On our Kimberley trip I tried to buy more stubbies in Kununurra, and after the guy behind the counter stopped laughing, explained they only sold tinnies. Purchased a couple of 30 packs and headed off to the GRR. The packs just sat on the tray and all I did was stuff a towel in the carton as we used them. I really expected to lose quite a few, but was very pleasantly surprised to not lose a one. Go figure.

Back to the stubbies as soon as I could so my mo doesn't get caught in the ring-thing, much better. :cheers:

Geez doesn't that bring tears to your eyes. I got so pissed off when I did it 3 times on the one can, I chucked the b%$&( can in the bin.

No, that is being defeatist, much better to haul out some hair and whinge a lot. It starts a vicious circle though. You drink more beer to get over the pain, lose more hairs and get more pain, more beer, more pain, more beer, fall over, more beer, etc.... 8)
