Tallebudgera Tourist Park - Gold Coast
« on: March 28, 2016, 08:12:04 AM »
Hi All,

About to head off this am for a 5 day stay at the above tourist park. Have not stayed there before but have had a walk through the park a couple of months ago and it looks very nice.
Anybody from here stayed there before got any tips ?
Looking forward to relaxing and intend on doing some late afternoon - early evening land based fishing for whiting close to the park.
Second trip away in the swan and am more familiar with things this time around with the water & gas sorted as well as the TV...just hope the good weather holds.

Cheers
Rob

We stay every Christmas for a week. This year we have booked in for two weeks.

Right on the beach, pool is great, still allow kids to be kids. They can ride their bikes and scooters.

During holidays, they have things for kids to do.

If the wifey feels fit, they can don their yoga pants and go for their morning walk around to the point whilst you wet a line.

If you get bored, you can go boat shopping, ARB and all the other stores are around the area.

It's rare a single place ticks all the boxes, but this place comes pretty close.

Rob, make sure you get some pics and further info! Sounds like it might be a good place to get away to for something different.
Cheers

We try to get there a couple of times a year its a top spot, you have pretty much hit the nail on the head with what to do there. Morning and afternoon fishing relaxing and not much else.

The surf club over the road is a nice place for an afternoon beverage or a meal one night.

Cheers Axl

Thanks all...is pretty packed at the moment....as you would expect for the Easter school holidays.

Small problem with the TV...can't seem to get a clear channel. Ran a scan but only was able to get  few abc channels which were very pixilated so gave up.

Will sort the arial issue out after we get home.

Fishing late this arvo.... 3 fish...one legal whiting....which I let go as we were packing up. Might have to go further afield as it is a very busy waterway around here with a lot of water activity.

Axl....we look forward to coming back and setting up in one of those waterfront spots.....very nice !!

Cheers
Rob

Day 3....could get used to this place very easily
Lots of swimming & snorkelling options ....swimming enclosure just outside the park, surf at Burleigh Heads after a nice walk around the mountain, swimming pools x2....1 for families and 1 for adults.
Shop out the front has most of the basics such as ice, bread, milk, ice creams etc.
Families with kids of all ages would love what this park has to offer. Retired people looking for quiet might find it a bit noisy during peak periods but would no doubt also love it at other times, but having said that, it is very quite here by 9.30.
TV issue sorted .....easily after some thought went into it  8)
Forgot to turn on arial switch !!
Performed new scan and wallah....heaps of stations to choose from...although oddly enough still getting pixelating on Gold Coast stations ??
Fishing....only small whiting caught at dusk...which is not surprising I suppose when I have been a bit lazy and reaped what I have sowed   >:D
Wife and I are enjoying a beer and a rum every afternoon...wife rum...me ...beer and rum :)
Have enjoyed good weather so far but looks and feels like a possible storm is brewing over towards Springbrook...will see.

Cheers

Welcome to the coast and crappy TV digital reception  and on the rain you may have dodged it, we are a bit further south and only caught the edge as it turned out to sea .

Yes Edz....all went north...just a light sprinkle here.

Crappy Gold Coast digital reception....I would be a tad annoyed as well about that if I lived here.
In my ignorance I just assumed that digital signals would have spelt the end of bad reception...obviously not  >:D

Archer

Too late for you now (we've been away & just catching up on MySwag  :D) but you'd probably need to point your aerial South to get signal from the Currumbin transmitter. Have a look at: https://myswitch.digitalready.gov.au/

Edz - got a mate who lives about 5k up Tally Valley & the only TV he can get is the NT Imparja channel  :o

Interesting Fizzie...thanks.
Back home now after four fantastic days.
Will definitely be going back again and will hopefully snag one of those water front sites next time...although I'm told someone has to die for one of those sites to become available during peak times  :'(

Cheers

Good to hear you had a great time, but sorry, no way known could I spend a holiday crammed in shoulder to shoulder with 1000 other people like that (quite apart from the fact that it's not even 10 minutes from my place!  :D)

Can certainly understand what you mean Graeme.
Was a bit noisy at times ( well maybe most of the day around the pool ) but still got a snooze in after lunch each day anyway.
Look forward to going again in off peak times that's for sure.

Oh...forgot to mention that you can get access to 300mb of free wi-fi, but as this lasted us one day we ended up upgrading to 1GB, but even this ran out on the fourth night.
Think next time we would be better off getting 1.5 or 2GB for a four night stay.

Cheers
Rob

Normally crowds put me off big time as well....but it was all pretty friendly.
Having said that....no....would not go again at peak times either.

Love how the Tallebudgera is labelled a 'creek' - its wider than the damn Murray River!

Great park, stayed there a few years ago :)
We've swapped from the camper to a van yay! :)

Unfortunately, the only wide bit is the area right beside the Park!

Go only a few 00m's upstream & it starts narrowing, then within another k or 2, it's down to only 20m's or so, & not too far after that, it's a trickle  :'(

Yep it's lucky to be a creek a few km upstream.

Hey, something to ask you OM.

You trying to take over Rumpig's fishing slot  ???

Fishing report on the local news the other night - Luke was saying that Oldmate picked up a nice big Jewie, & then again that Oldmate also got a good Spaniard!

You obviously had fun!  :D

Knowing Olly, they weren't fish they were talking about. More likely tourists cruising the Southport strip and he kidnapped them to build his deck
