Hi from Metalian Australia
« on: March 09, 2016, 10:11:48 PM »
Just a quick 'hi' from us - and already feel good being amongst other off-road campers! I will be posting more info in the Dealers section of the new Metalian Maxi off road camper, which is unique in the Australian market being of true monocoque design, manufactured from 3CR12 stainless steel. After three years of enhancements and testing for the Australian conditions we have just launched and are receiving very favourable feedback on the quality of design and finish. Looking forward to your feedback as well as we are applying ongoing enhancements and want to ensure that we retain the true off-road capability whilst also keeping the 'better halves' requirements in mind!
Regards,
Anton

Welcome to the forum.  Nice looking camper, I like all of the storage pockets and especially that fold down kitchen.  When will all of the pricing, specs be available?

How long have they been making these in South Africa?

Cheers

Thanks Anton, appreciate the info above.

As Shaun99 says much better priced than Patriot and what appears to be a very good alternative.

Cheers

Thanks Shaun and Hempo - we might be slightly biassed but believe the build quality can match any of the competition - and exceed it in most areas. We won't be posting a direct comparison but feel free to check out both sets of specs. For instance the monocoque design gives you in excess of 2800 litres of storage space, the strength of 3CR12 stainless steel enables us to manufacture a very strong and lightweight fully off-road camper that cannot be matched by using more traditional design techniques and material. Metalian's have crossed Africa numerous time during the past five years and are extensively used by hire companies. I can post photos of what a Metalian looks like after it has flipped and the doors could still open.

Some facts for comparison - all seams are folded, sealed, bolted and puddle welded. No pop rivets are used anywhere in the construction - apart from attaching some external cover plates. The Metalian takes a 90 litre twin (fridge / freezer) National Luna fridge but can take up to an 110 Nl fridge if the optional above fridge slide isn't selected. Twin 75 litre stainless water tanks included in the price, same DO35 coupler, 12" electric off-road brakes, three 265 /70 R17 6 stud Mud Terrain tyres on alloy rims as standard, twin 130ah AGM batteries with 3 year warranty included in the price, Howling Moon XT Deluxe trailer top tent with 100mm matress, all surrounding awnings and walls plus spare bedroom and 3 ground sheets.

Two rear full extension drawers plus a top shelf drawer all on 180kg slides included. Joolca instant hot water system, wash basin and drying rack. Charging system - 12 v from vehicle, 240v and up to 160 watt solar. Full set of storage caddies with cutlery and crockery. Two 4kg gas cylinders - filled. Standard colours are white, bronze or green - but we can match the external colour of the Metalian to the colour of any vehicle based on the vehicles VIN number, or a sample of a custom colour for an additional $500. All of the above items plus more are included in the fully optioned price of $29,500 including GST and NSW rego for 12 months.
