Looking at Pioneer Longreach / Cub Brumby 2016
« on: February 26, 2016, 07:14:21 AM »
Goog morning all,
I am a long time viewer first time poster to the group, but value some input
I have a small family myself, wife and child ( 8yrs ).  We use to do a lot of camping NT and have a autohome maggiolina roof top tent along an alloy expedition trailer.  Now that the family dynamics have changed, it’s time to look at other options.  Yesterday we went the caravan and camping and looked at the Pioneer Longreach, Cub Brumby/Swagman, Mountain Trail EDX and Patriot X1 limited.  We have a requirement that the camper must be made in Australia.

We has almost discounted both the:
Patriot as it still a roof top tent in principal, but nice and compact
Mountain Trail, has everything you want 11/10 just the price, if I win loto this weekend I will get this one.

So the like everything in life the budget has blown out started off at 30K and now we are at 40K

This leaves us with the Pioneer Longreach and Cub Brumby Swagman.  Both are high quality and long standing names in the camper trailer business.

What does the group think of these campers?

Thanks

Hey bud i was in a similar situation last year and looked at the pioneer and cub along with a bunch of others including the Kimberley we ended up going bang for ya buck we found the Kk suited out needs the best it was the kitchen layout and a few other things that we wanted that the others didn't include as standard for the money we wanted to outlay, I do like the design of the pioneers so if it was me I'd go the pioneer over the cub but that's just my opinion :)

Thanks lukeycat for your input, I will go and have a look at the KK's as they have a show room in Melbourne.  As you would appreciate shopping for Camper Trailers is rather stressful, too many good options.  At this stage we are favoring the Pioneer.
Thanks again

Yeh your looking at the right time the caravan and camping show is on this weekend so if you get the chance you will be able to check all the big players out in one day.

We took the day off on Thursday and spent plenty of time with both Cub and Pioneer at the Caravan and Camping show.   A great opportunity to get a feel for both products, just wished KK were at the show.  Looks like we will be off to the KK showroom this week to have a look and compare.

Oh wow I'm surprised they weren't there maybe they don't need to promote their product as it sells it self on its track record alone ;) we are super happy with ours but definitely worth the trip to pakenham for a look

That's surprising, as we bought our KK at the show last year.
We were looking at the same 3 campers as you. The KK represented the best bang for our buck, and the wife loves the kitchen layout.
We felt the brumby would be a little small for us, and we really liked the pioneer, but once we added all the options we wanted we were over budget.
Kimberley have just released a Classic "Family Package" which has a lot of very good inclusions.
The boys at Victorian Camper Trailers are good to deal with, drop in and have a look.
Cheers
