(NSW) Number Plate Replacement Costs ???
« on: February 06, 2016, 06:44:01 PM »
You go into RTA to replace your number plates with whatever's on their stock shelf - for whatever reason, it's a small one off fee....I think last time I did it for my son's car, was $4x. Standard 6 digit on yellow background

Thinking of getting new plates because mine are 20 odd yr old.
So looked on MyPlates . com at prices, and got to thinking of personalised one. Ok, I think it's wrong paying an annual fee, but could wear the $102 each yr....but WHY should I have to pay a one off fee of $220 for a yellow plate, when that's how they come???
I'll be ringing 'em on monday asking why, but wondering if anyone here knows their logic?

On a side note....I'm the 3rd owner of this Patrol. Cops originally owned it for her 1st 2 yrs, and I have a copy of the original sales info which shows the original plate number. Ran it through My Plates, and it's available, thought it might be cool to get her original back  LOL

Charge the lemmings as much as possible until they revolt.

Should see the drama if you have lost a plate
Even on a trailer, its treated as stolen and have to get police involved

Really? Since when?  I lost a boat trailer plate 3-4 years ago and just paid the $2? Dollars for a replacement or could of waited for original number but didn't.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

For the most part, I agree....those with the likes of - MANIC, TUFFGU, KILLR, BLOWN on a commonwhore 6, only thing sticking above then bonnet was the pealing clear coat, etc are wank factor
But I've no problem if the plate has your initials/yr of birth type of thing

Anywho....the reason given for the extra $220 to get yellow plates? Cause it's a different shade of yellow to the 'over the counter - from stock' yellow  PMSL
Standard $43 over the counter plates for me  ;)

I had some plates remade, old and faded replaced with the same letters and numbers. Costs the same as new 'over the counter' ones, but there is a week or so wait. Thought it would be nice for the old car to retain its 'heritage' plate (91 Corolla doesn't have a lot of heritage value though)
