Camper Trailer caught fire at Tewantin Beach (Gympie Times)
« on: December 29, 2015, 09:22:46 PM »
Just seen on FB a families new 3 week old rear fold caught on fire as they slept inside.

They were very lucky to survive.

You will have to look it up, it wouldn't let me post a link.

What a horrible initiation to camping for the family. So lucky they all escaped without physical injury. Hopefully they are insured!

It could happen to any in this day and age but does anyone know the make of the camper?

Drove past it as they were loading the trailer onto the tilt tray on the beach, looked a right mess...a lucky escape for those involved that's for sure

Glad everyone go out ok.

Time to ID the camper, that front box in the stoneguard is pretty distinctive.

It's a GIC Black series Pheonix apparently.
A few have been saying Kimberley, but they have different kitchen configuration and no front stabiliser legs.

WOW glad to hear they all got out safe scary stuff, hence the reason I have fitted a smoke detector and a LPG detector to my Expanda.

I reckon it's a ezytrail as my mate has a black series and the wheels are different. But it's hard to tell tbh as I reckon they are all made the same except the colors it's painted

Cant really shame the manufacturer when no one knows the facts. It may have had third party wiring work done in its 3 weeks of ownership that may have caused the fire.

Lucky escape by the sounds of it.

But if it was a Jeep then you guys would all be blaming the car straight away?

I agree, regardless of the cause the most important thing is that everyone got out of it ok:)

My tip, wiring too small, insufficient fuses with a high current draw from a fridge or aircon unit plugged into a 12v socket meant to be used for lights or phone charging at best.

I reckon it a Rucky Duck as my mate has one and it has tyres on the rims.
