Moreton at high tide
« on: December 18, 2015, 09:55:47 PM »
Evening all. We're going across to Moreton tomorrow and unfortunately we're arriving just before high tide. What is the beach on the east/ocean side, north of Middle Road, like for driving (with camper) at high tide?

The tides are different times for East and Western side of the island by a few hours from memory (but best double check that). Last visit we were no chance of driving the Western beach to come down to the ferry, so went over to Eastern side and tide was well and truly on the way out. Not sure if that's always the way it is though,  just that's how it was on our last stay there.

Tide is two hours earlier on eastern side of Moreton Island to Brisbane bar. Western beach is 30 mins earlier than Brisbane bar. The eastern beach was very heavy going with very soft deeps sand, near high tide in September when we arrived at high tide. A GQ with us kept overheating as it was such heavy going.
