« on: December 17, 2015, 11:17:38 PM »
Packing for early departure tomorrow for two weeks camp at Warroorah station, pre chilled as a freezer my 60 litre engle I bought new on the 23rd December 1983, and still pulls down to -18.7 degrees in ambient of 29 degrees at 7.00 am this morning! I bought this one from Perth freezer centre for $500 plus a beach towel thrown in.You need ice?  You need an engle to make it!

Mine is 20 years old and still as good as new!

Wouldn't hesitate to buy another if this one ever dies.

Mine needs a re-gas. Compressor runs fine, it just doesn't get very cold.

36 years old... they just don't make stuff to last anymore.

Another issue with them that my wife discovered is that if you get the 240V plug and push it into the 12V plug side, I mean really hard, it blows a fuse. What were they thinking designing it like that ??? ????? It worked for another 15 years after that happened though.

My 40L 1996 model is still going strong, after a digital upgrade.

My 1984 vintage fridge I bought new when I got a new HiLux is still rattling away in the shed. It doesn't go camping anymore though. I replaced it with a newer model in 2000 ,that fridge died after 12 years. So now I have an ARB fridge and happy with that.

Does mine win   ;D

Still runs like a gem and whisper quiet. Not bad for 50 year old.
