Ok Here We Go!
« on: December 13, 2015, 01:10:09 PM »
Hi all,

Aiming to take the better half and 4 girls (Yup 4 of em) on a 6 month trip to see as much of our magnificent country as possible.

Only problem is choice.... In everything.

But our firs decision is our CT. We have a fairly limited budget when it comes to purchasing our CT, looking $15k or under. We aim to use NP's where possible and try to avoid Van parks. Camping isnt unfamiliar to use, just never used a Camper. Previously our longest trip was 2 weeks and we used fire, ice and BBQ's.... Sleep when its dark ;-)

What is peoples opinion on what is better, New or Used?

My wife has decided she wants the Mars Maven (which we still need to add to). Or would the Titan with more money spent on outfitting. The other choice Im looking at is a decent second hand one already fitted with a lot of extras (eg solar etc).

She has gone Mars as after visiting a number of displayrooms the Mars rep in Brisbane and product was the one she liked the best.

Any advice?

G'day and welcme to myswag.  Some big decisions to make  :D

On your lap of the map, are you intending to stray far off the black top?  If so, maybe a more robust second hand CT would be more suitable.  Good luck

Happy camping

Welcome to the forum. With that budget and a big trip planned, I'd be looking for a second hand camper. Something like a Trackabout, Lifestyle, All Terrain or the like.

Edit - there's a Trackabout Safari extenda in the Classifieds that I'd be putting on the very short list.

Welcome and what an excellent plan. On the camper second hand, with all required options (solar, wiring and maybe even a fridge etc) is the way to go. Don't be afraid to bargain and maybe travel a bit for the right setup. When people see the colour of your money, you would be amazed at what can happen. Good luck in your search.
