where do you carry your generator
« on: December 11, 2015, 07:33:41 PM »
THIS IS NOT A YES/NO ABOUT GENERATORS ..BEFORE POSTING READ THE TITTLE ..

the breakaway has a side lockable box with 2 x gas bottles in it below

I can relocate the gas bottles to drawbar (which i like as vented to atmosphere ) and then out the honda geny in there and lock up. I am concerned about any potential for smell inside the camper from fuel fumes. I will also put it in a zip up generator bag as well.

Has anyone carried in similar location . its a honda

We carry ours in the 100 series on the back floor behind the drivers seat, it's not always needed so the number of times it's loaded for a trip is less than the total number of camping trips we do !!

Never had a problem with smell/fumes and it puts the weight in front of the cruisers rear axle, which on any camper with a sizable front box is a good thing  ;D

We've carried ours on the floor in the Patrol, and it's now stored and carried in the Coota.
Like jk, we've never had a problem with fuel smells (Honda Eu10i).

Maybe leave the genny locked-up inside the camper for a week or two to see if you get any noticeable fuel pong??

1. I like your camper
2. I think the box is a great location for a genny and spares and a waste for bottles, they don't need a box
3. Why have you got a genny  >:D

I would leave your gas in its current position....otherwise you will need to re-plumb the gas lines.

If your always gonna need gas and only sometimes need the genny, keep em where they are.

Don't over think it.

That space is so much more useful without gas bottles in it. Dustproof enclosed space is gold in my book, no matter where the trip, conditions or weather you can never have enough, stick the bottles on the drawbar and be done with it.

In the back of the Jeep.

Once we're on Fraser and set up, it gets taken out and left out until we pack up again. (Our camper is your basic set up as far as camper trailers go)

We run a 25 metre lead and tuck it behind a bush so the red colour doesn't stand out too much and io throw a green towel over it while we are away from our camp.
I DON'T CARE HOW NICE THE HAND SOAP SMELLS.....

You should never walk out of the public toilets sniffing your fingers.

I agree with Snapman. The genny can be carried anywhere.....

i also think you'd get less smell from the gas bottles than the genny

You won't get a fuel smell in the camper if it is in the storage box, because it's designed for gas it must legally be sealed from the inside. I agree that the storage box is better used for generators or anything else, gas bottles are better in the open
