Seat covers for 200 series
« on: October 29, 2015, 06:06:16 PM »
Hi Guys, as most of you are aware I may have a little ocd when it comes to my cars & them Being clean. I want to but good quality seat covers but the canvas ones for a set are around $900. Are they worth it? For those that have bought them would you buy again?

Maybe some big arse clear shrink tube over the top. How's the recovery going?

We have them on the centre row, and I wouldn't give it another thought buying them again.
We have the msa canvas covers.

An alternative to the canvas ones are the wet seat. I have them on my 76 and they are great easy to clean and look after. And at less then $200 for the front seats thy are good value.

We have the MSA covers front and back and also they include a cover for the Center console lid, had them on our Prado as well and the seats are kept as new, worth every penny. We have the wet suit covers in the Suzuki and every time we get in it it smells of neoprene rubber, all right if you like the smell of rubber :)

Have the msa and find them great. Be careful with hands under seats. Was like razor blades........

I have canvas on mine, it serves a purpose but when I sit in my brothers Cruza with his expensive sheepskin WOW. So much nicer to sit on.

Hey Swannie have a look at the genuine Toyota canvas seat covers before you make your decision.  I was very surprised with the price compared to MSA and other brands.  They are well fitted and feel good to sit in.
Cheers Terry.

Well, we have Black Duck in the Patrol (were there when was bought second hand).     When we got the JK Wrangler it had to get canvas as well, even thought it was harder to find.

MSA for us too.  Expensive but worth every cent and more.

Wouldn't be without them!

We have Black Duck canvas covers on the kids seat on our 200 series and the fit and quality is brilliant.

I have MSA canvas covers front and back on the 70 series dual cab and find them good, but the quality is and fit is nowhere near as good as the Black Duck covers.
If I did it again I'd definitely go the Black Duck on the dual cab.

My work has put canvas covers on our truck seats. Most of our drivers are pigs so it kinda made sense. They seem to do a great job in protecting the seat but the ones we had put on (not sure of a brand) took a little bit of time to soften up.

If you go for canvas covers, have a look at a company called "The  Canvas Seat Cover Company". He used to make the genuine Toyota covers for them. Great product.

I bought a set of seat covers off of him many years ago for my 105 series Cruiser. He had the Toyota seat covers in stock there at the time, but wouldn't sell me the ones with the Toyota emblem on them cheap, but he sold me the covers without an emblem sewn into them pretty cheap instead.

Thanks for your comments gents. Gone with canvas front and rear from escape gear distributed in Australia by Hannibal safari. Good price and like to try out brands that aren't so well known when I can
Will post up pics when they arrive. Peter also gave me a deal I couldn't refuse :)

I've always looked after my cars and 4wd's, BUT I have never used seat covers !!

I never let the kids eat or drink in the car and until the 200 series I'd never had a problem with wear or dirt on seats..

But the 200 was 90,000k's old when I bought it and some wear on the drivers entry side seems to come from getting in and out because of its height !  But I'm pretty tall, so I don't think I'll add too much more wear.

The 200 is the worst type of seat material I've seen since the 1980's..

Mate I highly recommend the escape gear. I actually compared them today to a mates msa covers & I like the darker material and feel
